How to get your music on Spine Radio
If you are in a band or or a solo act or whatever, and you want to get your music on Spine Radio here are a couple of things to note:
- The higher quality the better. Spine Radio is released as an MP3. If you send an MP3, it's going to get decoded and then re-encoded to be part of the show. Every time you re-encode something, it's going to sound worse.
- High quality MP3s are...well...OK. If you have your music as an MP3 in 192 kbps / 44 kHz or better, you can email it (or a link to it) to the show. Directions on how to do that can be found on SpineRadio.com.
- MySpace's music tracks suck. When you upload a track to MySpace, it gets re-encoded to 96 kbps / 22 kHz. They're ok for listening, but they're going to sound worse if they go in the show. If you just point us to your MySpace page, your music will not get played (unless I really, really fucking like it).
- Send a CD. The best way, by far, to get your music on Spine Radio is to send us a CD. Please contact us for our mailing address.
If you send us a CD, not only will your music get on the show in the highest quality manner possible, but we'll probably also make a contest out of it, and give it away to some lucky fan. (It would be cool if you could sign it too.) This will drive traffic to your website and/or MySpace page, and that fan will probably tell all their friends about how they won this fantastic CD. It's really a win/win situation.
Of course, getting your music played on the show depends on us liking it. If we play your music you'll get in our top friends for at least a week.
