About me: In my working life, I'm a costume/prop/puppet builder for the entertainment industry, with the occasional fun acting job on the side. Actually, that's not all that different from my non-working life! To quote a friend of mine, I'm a card-carrying geek, with interests in many different film and television genres. Some of my professional work includes the Jim Henson TV series "Dinosaurs!" and films such as "The Muppet Christmas Carol," "The Net," "The Patriot," "The New World," "Evan Almighty," and most recently George Clooney's latest film "Leatherheads." I also worked with Paramount on some of their interactive properties such as The Star Trek Earth Tour, Titanic: The Movie on Tour, and Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. Basically, I'm just a fan that went pro!
I also enjoy acting whenever I can, and have done a few commercials as well as film "extras" work ("The Patriot," "Leatherheads") and a spot on the History Channel docudrama "Isaac's Storm." I'm a big ol' ham as well as a geek!
When I'm not working, I have fun being the current Commanding Officer (basically, chapter president) for the Carolina Garrison of the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers, an international Star Wars costuming club that is very active with many various charities throughout the world. I also perform with the stage combat troupe The ShadowPlayers (www.shadowcombat.com) and the comedy troupe Luna-C Productions (www.luna-c.mhost.com/).
Currently I'm starting to dabble in writing, having recently finished working on a puppetry book titled "The Well Dressed Puppet." I'm now knee-deep in my next two books, both of which will be published by Schiffer Publishing Ltd. (www.schifferbooks.com) whenever I can get them finished! The first is called "Haunted Theaters of the Carolinas," which is about....well....haunted theaters in North and South Carolina, and the second is tentatively called "Haunted Charlotte (NC)" (again, pretty self-explanatory!)
One final note--I'm more than happy to promote my friends' projects/organizations because (let's face it) the entertainment industry can be a tough one, and we can all use a plug now and then! I will NOT, however, act as free advertising for your call girl service/on-line money-making schemes/"free" downloads/etc. So if that's all you're here for, please don't ask to "friend" me. To all others, welcome!
And yes, I DO have many other interests that have NOTHING to do with the entertainment industry! I'm just not sure they're quite so...entertaining.
Thanks for adding us. You have some cool frickin costumes. I so need to get involved with the 501st or something. It seems like SCA and Harry Potter suck up most of my free time...
