About me: “Brook Ballard has quietly become one of the premier Harp players on the Gulf Coast. Driven by tradition, soul, improvisation, and a level of energy unsurpassed by today's top artists, Brook has honed his craft razor sharp."
-- Texas Blues Music
Brook Ballard and the Big Wheelers have arrived on the Houston blues scene. Band leader, vocalist, and harmonica player Brook Ballard has played all over the US including The Blackstone Theater in Chicago, Rum Boogie Café on Beale Street in Memphis, and Generations Hall in New Orleans and has opened up for blues legend Jimmie Vaughan as well as The Marshall Tucker Band. He is joined by Stevan “Too Smooth” Rutherford on drums, who has played with several bands and toured regionally. Mike Martin leads the way on guitar with barn burning guitar and some of the silky Delta vocals and Chris Watkins ..s lays some of the coolest grooves. The Big Wheelers are heavily influenced by Southern and Texas Blues traditions, including such artists as the Vaughan Brothers, Kim Wilson and Freddie King, just to mention a few. The Big Wheelers perform the music they love with soul, emotion and excitement. Expect to be entertained and hit the dance floor. Keep your eyes peeled for Brook Ballard and the Big Wheelers rolling into a blues venue near you!
