In 1951, a Cleveland Ohio disc jockey named Alan Freed, not only coined a phrase, but defined the music for generations to come with those immortal words...... "ROCK....and.....ROLL!"
Taking you on a musical journey spanning over three decades, it's a time capsule featuring the most remembered music and the artists who created those spectacular sounds......make way for...."THE GOLDEN AGE OF ROCK & ROLL- ROAD SHOW."
Comprised of four sensational vocalists and five multi-talented musicians (dubbed as "The Power City Band") The Golden Age of Rock & Roll" is an all-star revue, faithfully recreating the hit records, as you first heard them on your 45's, 8-tracks and the cassette tapes that became the sountrack of your life!
The show chronologically starts at the inception of rock music with it's roots in the mid 1950's, with such hitmakers as "Buddy Holly" & "Dion & The Belmonts". Flowing into the teen idols of the early 1960's with "Del Shannon" and "The Crystals." The British invasion is well represented with the English beat of "The Searchers", "Dave Clark 5", "Dusty Springfield" and more.
Capturing the feel of the mid 60's, it's a salute to motown with a "Supremes" medley. The times they are a changin' to the magic of the folk rock era, bringing to life the west coast memories of the "The Mamas & Papas." From the summer of love 1967, a number one hit by "Scott Mckenzie." Transistor radios were blarin' with the latest top 40 hits from "The Turtles" and "Gary Puckett". The sixties come full circle, as we turn up & get turned on by"Vanilla Fudge" and it's the dawining of Aquarius with a texan, named "Janis Joplin."
The show moves to focus on the 1970's with hitmakers like "Three Dog Night" and "The Doobie Brothers." To the days of mirror balls and studio 54, with "Donna Summer" and "K.C. & The Sunshine Band."
"THE GOLDEN AGE OF ROCK & ROLL - ROAD SHOW" is a high energy presentation, combined with music and unique personality, enhanced by state of the art sound reinforcement and lighting. Guaranteed with mass appeal for all ages. So...dust off your poddle skirt, get out that nehru jacket and slip on those platform shoes .....
