Some people get into the music industry seeking fortune and fame. They believe that somehow, performing, writing and producing will bring them the accolades and the acclaim needed to feel or find what they’ve been missing. And then there are the people who have no choice in the matter – artistry has chosen them. They are compelled to write, perform, record, produce and even minister the way the rest of us are compelled to breathe. Whether they sell five million records or just five, some people will always have the desire to create.
Philip G. Tarver is one of these rare individuals. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Philip began his creative journey in talent management after being asked by one of Gospel music’s Up and Coming greats: Mys Michelle. Headlining her administration at the age 18, Philip took his humbled beginnings and has started to build what he calls a perfected class of the music industry or a Kingdom.
Looking toward the future, Philip envisions his multi-layered career in terms of chapters of a never-ending story that includes songwriting, producing, management and an openness to explore anything else that his schedule permits. When asked what music means to him, he responds without hesitation, “ Music is the window to opportunity, and I don't know about you but I need some air.."
