"The most rewarding thing about following Madison music is hearing bands grow and progress. The Cemetery Improvement Society started as a one-man project built on creepy, wandering industrial beats and samples, but blossoms to "two people, two samplers, and two seven-string guitars" on Lonely Dog Island. As if bent on deprogramming the part of the brain that craves a straightforward 4/4 thud, Marc Claggett and Russell Paul squirm through maddening, circular rhythms, disorienting drones, and guest performances like Dissent And Revolt vocalist Aaron Miller's growl on "Pocket Full Of Bugs."-The Onion Decider Madison
"The duo’s latest project, a new album called Lonely Dog Island,
is also the product of hours spent plotting, experimenting and goofing
off between multiple day jobs. So too is the track “Sixth Severence,”
which tumbles through about a dozen musical genres in seven and a half
minutes.
What’s compelling about the track isn’t so much its effort to defy
categorization but the fact that is sounds like four songs -- and
perhaps even four bands -- rolled into one.
It’s the unexpected transitions from minimalist instrumental
intros to dramatic, hush-and-swell freefalls to moments of guitar
shredding that would make Eddie Van Halen jealous that make the track
captivating at some times, endearingly confusing at others."-The Isthmus (Jessica Seinhoff)
"The duo crafts an itchy patchwork of beats and switched-around rhythms, rarely sticking to the repetitive thump you'd expect from industrial or electronic music. Even the craftily applied layers of synth, guitar, and weird samples just make the space feel more forbidding and stark. Lonely Dog Island doesn't give up on the project's free-form, damn-near-improvised feel. In fact, the album clocks in at a challenging 80 minutes. It's okay that they've taken up so much space on this record because a lot of surprises lurk within."-The Onion (Scott Gordon)
The Cemetery Improvement Society (Madison, WI) was created in the winter of 2006 as a solo experimental/electronic/instrumental music project. It's original purpose was to express feelings of loss and musical ideas without boundaries, using only a sampler and a seven string guitar. In this early stage, an eight song demo titled "You Are Lucky" was released to promote the many live shows that would follow. In the three years since it's birth, The Cemetery Improvement Society has continued to evolve musically and conceptually. The new full length album "Lonely Dog Island" includes continued solo music, collaborations with various vocalists, and co-writing with fellow guitarist Russell Paul. "Lonely Dog Island", released in April of 2009 (Analogy Records) was followed by a Midwest/East Coast tour and many Midwest shows to follow. TCIS will be touring South in August of 2009. The new sound is driven by dark, progressive and complex guitar work bathed in layered, intelligent programming. (No computers were used or harmed to create this music).

Greetings! So I'm giving away my new album, of which I am absolutely ecstatic. Here's the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?ijkizzyjmwm If you've got no clue what to do with that, download this program called winRar and then open that link and click "download". When it finishes, winRar will open and then you extract all the files. Simple enough! If you do download my album, I'll love you forever!
You have etched fine cracks in my psyche and the daymares have been persistent. I am plagued by the incessant sounds of rats squirming in rice while my eyes refuse to focus on anything other than incests. What have you done?!
