Laura, Gel and Lisa could be the Ramones long lost daughters, writes British rock mag Kerrang about Albuquerque, New Mexicos punk darlings The Eyeliners, singing love songs that sound like they belong at a drive-in movie but are delivered at a pace more suited to [English auto racetrack] Silverstone.
Sisters Laura, Lisa and Gel know what it means to rock. Their unpretentious sound, beaming with sincerity, is a pure punk rock that echoes such influences as The Ramones, Stiff Little Fingers, and Operation Ivy. Their sound is not the only strength, as their shows are full of energy and fun, and will make a fan out of anyone that has the opportunity to see them live.
They learned how to play by playing songs by The Ramones, Stiff Little Fingers, etc. then transitioned into writing their own material. Lisa made the switch to bass, and they became a trio. Their early shows around Albuquerque were met with great response and they moved quickly onto the punk scene. Through their relentless touring they have built an ever increasing fan base and have toured with such bands as Alkaline Trio, No Use For A Name and The Donnas. They have earned highly sought after slots on such prestigious tours as The Plea For Peace Tour and The Warped Tour, to which they have been invited back again this year.
Laura decided to step forward and devote all her energy to singing. Since then, the band has had a line of distinguished drummers filling in for live shows including Hunter from AFI, Branden Steineckert of The Used, Tim O’Hara from the Lillingtons. Most recently, Thommy Price who has played with Patti Smyth, Billy Idol, and currently Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, will be joining The Eyeliners on their highly anticipated, new release.
Their undeniable sex appeal matched with their melodic, high energy pure punk sound, is the perfect blend of old school punk with just a little bit of pop. From their first release Confidential, a declarative raw punk album, to Here Comes Trouble, their second release, and finally, Sealed with a Kiss, a more refined sound, blending a punk sound with a pop sensibility, the progression is clear. The Eyeliners, more mature sound will come to the pinnacle in their up coming release, produced by Kenny Laguna, producer of such legendary pop and punk bands as Bow Wow Wow, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kathleen Hanna and Bikini Kill, and many others.
The Eyeliners have recently signed with Blackheart Records and have collaborated on a new song, Destroy, with Joan Jett, on guitar and vocals.
Thank you The Eyeliners for making "The Crooked and the Straight" album of the year. We couldn't have done it without you. If you ever need anything let us know.
Please help! The united has had four guitars and three amps stolen from our old space. If you see any of the stuff let us know! Here is a list of missing stuff.
Red Gibson Les Paul studio, this guitar is unique in that it is a deep red wood stain Les Paul with no pic guard so it is strikingly simple, no fler at all and is super uncommon. It also brand new! Batman fell in love with this thing at first sight and spent a pretty penny on it.
Red Epiphone Las Paul Custom, This was Johns #2 so it’s in great condition!
Green Epiphone Las Paul Custom, This was Johns #1 this guitar is the oldest member of the united. It has incredible sentimental value to everyone in the band.
Black 5string Ibanez bass guitar, its I little warn in from touring and the lower sting adjustments are stiff but it feels good to play. It was missing a knob last time we saw it. Vince Marshal Dave and Rich all rocked out it.
Ampeg bass head. It’s the shelf mount style without the shelf. It has a gray cover with the initials EVL painted on it.
B-52 guitar head, it cuts out after you play it for a wile, it was batmans backup. You would know it if you saw it!
Peavey Pre amp it’s the old kind with the fuzzy finish, its black with a little teal and it has the up and down style frequency settings. It was my first amp.
Thanks for The Add, you are my new rocking little sisters, anyone gives you crap, I'll give 'em what for! Left, right left, then an upper cut, that'l show 'em...
Albuquerque. Ive only heard that before in an old Neil Young song. We would love to visit and catch one of your shows while we are touring the states! Love ya tunes! Johnny Moondog.
