About me:
Our Los Angeles based firm focuses on constructively reorganizing the family unit in the process of transition. Ronald M. Supancic, founder of The Law Collaborative of greater Los Angeles, has been certified by the California State Bar Association's Board of Legal Specialization in Family Law since that program’s inception is 1980. As a result, Ron has handled hundreds of contested dissolutions, child custody cases, and disputed post-marital proceedings. He is knowledgeable about the best and the worst that litigated divorce has to offer the parties involved. As a child of divorce himself, Ron experienced the confusion and vulnerability that results when the best interests of the child are overlooked during the tumult of divorce. Perhaps as a result, Ron is committed to the concept of the healthy family as a necessity within modern society, and the belief in the healthy child as a resulting benefit of that family. Interestingly, long term psychological studies of children of divorce conclude that, “it is not the divorce that is harmful to children. It is, rather, the parents, angry with each other, acting out against each other with disrespect and other contemptuous behaviors. The poor attitude of parents, not the divorce itself, causes the most harm to children.” As early as 1997, this information caused Ron to study alternatives to litigated divorce. In 2000, as a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Ron became trained in the Collaborative process. In 2004, he completed the Advanced Collaborative Law Training, given by Attorney and IACP Founder, Pauline Tesler. In 2006, Ron bcame a participant in the Harvard Program on Negotiation, and now sits on the Board of the Global Negotiation Insight Initiative, which was created by PON. Ron served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corp. He received his Bachelor's Degree from UCLA, and his law degree from the University of Southern California. Ron is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and the Los Angeles County Superior Court. His extensive mediation practice includes volunteer court-appointed mediation. Ron enthusiastically supports the work of Habitat for Humanity and other charities, and serves with Mediators Beyond Borders.Who I'd like to meet:
