   About ThrillerBabyGeneration
BREAKING NEWS ************************************************************** 7-16-2009 Dear fellow ThrillerBabies, In the wake of the recent sad news of the death of our beloved Michael Jackson, the world has not only been affected, but as one can imagine, so have we. It has been painful digesting the everyday day-to-day developments of the story, but nothing has been more painful as losing the man himself; our King of Pop. The man who wrote the book from which the ThrillerBaby word was first coined, JOSHUA CRAWFORD, has been in mourning, along with the rest of the world, but has also felt compelled to share his obligations to the thrillerbaby generation in a more massive format … to prep the world for what is soon to come. Therefore, an OFFICIAL THRILLERBABY TWITTER page has just been launched in an effort to give up-to-date facts on Crawford’s intentions as to what to do next, given the nature that Twitter seems to be the rage right now in helping to deliver Crawford’s own agenda in a more timely manner than MySpace can currently do. As one can imagine, Crawford, the singer-songwriter of over 500 unrecorded songs of his own, and the author of SIGNATURE PLACE, the 3-part epic-novel he wrote for his generation in the 1990s, coining the word THRILLERBABY in the process as far back as 1994, has been inundated with emails, phonecalls, and heavy sadness as both he and us, the thrillerbaby team, grieve over the loss of what will perhaps be the most popular and most influential figure of the 20th century, and our generation. So forgive us if we postponed any future updates here on myspace, but rest assure, the time has come to rejoice in the talents of not just Jackson, but what Jackson’s music was able to do for our generation; US; the THRILLERBABIES. And we now encourage with the upmost respect for each and everyone of you, to visit the OFFICIAL THRILLERBABY TWITTER PAGE at the following address. www.Twitter.com/ThrillerBaby Though to relieve Crawford’s burden of carrying his entire generation on the weight of his shoulders (along with the weight of his own heart in which so many of you are well aware of) which he has so often done with pride for each and everyone one of you, he has asked us to state that in order to communicate with his generation on a more massive scale as opposed to just email-to-email and person-to-person formats, he has asked us to state to you, the ThrillerBaby generation, that official postings on the ThrillerBaby TWITTER page by both him and US, will not begin until the page reaches at least 1,000 followers, as this will allow Crawford’s intentions for not only his own music and art, but more importantly, his book SIGNATURE PLACE that documents the ThrillerBaby generation in massive detail and was the first to do so, to fully disclose itself to its audiences without having to repeat such intentions on both myspace, and facebook, and other numerous social networking sites. Please take into consideration that any mention of Crawford’s goals is never official, unless it is mentioned on the www.ThrillerBaby.com website; in which the Twitter page now will be, once this email goes out to each and everyone of you at this very moment. Signature Place, the 900-page 3-part GONE-WITH-THE-WIND-for-KIDS 1980s epic that Crawford painstakingly spent his entire 20s writing throughout the 1990s over the course of 8 years (only to find that no one in the publishing industry wanted to even publish it at the time, as they felt that it would have no target audience, just as the music-industry felt with Crawford’s music!), has, as you can imagine, suddenly received a recent new and almost overwhelming interest. And though we, and Crawford, are extremely sad that this recent high intrigue for the book and Crawford’s music has been suddenly jetfueled by Jackson’s unexpected death, we are more than happy to prepare to be capable to share this much-talked-about book on a more massive scale. Afterall, it not only pays homage to the trials and tribulations that our latchkey generation had to go through with being the 1st generation to have been raised under America’s 1st escalated divorce-rate that was caused by all our BabyBoomer parents, it also pays homage to Jackson’s influence ON our generation, and in return, on the world. Though as mentioned, due to Jackson’s death, it has been hard to get excited about the book that eventually became THE MOST REJECTED MANUSCRIPT IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE PUBLISHING INDSUTRY once it was completed in 1999 … yet literally COINED the word THRILLERBABY for the entire generation born between 1965-1980. But as the days have progressed since his death, and as our energy levels have begun to rise again in an effort as to figure out what the proper next step for us is to take, we wanted YOU, our followers on myspace, to receive the very first invite to our Twitter page, in respect for you having added us to your friends-list so long ago. And that is all Crawford has allowed us to say for the time being, other than to say that as soon as the Twitter Page reaches the 1,000 Followers mark, Crawford’s intentions with what to do next are sure to follow. We realize that getting the Twitter-page to 1,000 FOLLOWERS is going to take some time, but we also feel responsible to not only the many Jackson fans of the world, but more importantly, to our specific ThrillerBaby generation here in America in which Crawford pre-dated by about 15 years and first coined the word in 1994 way back when he was just barely 20 years old. And we want to be able to communicate in a much more less-complex format than interacting with everybody individually. Though as of right now, we will continue to use MySpace to the best that we can, and of course, will always take emails in the order that they’re received , we realize the massiveness of this most current unexpected news of Jackson’s death, has suddenly put an overnight requirement on our part to be able to communicate in a much more simplistic format. Therefore, we, and Crawford, urge you, our loved ones here on MySpace that have hung with us over the years, to sign up for the Twitter page ASAP, and to extend the invitation with anyone whom you feel will listen! For the quicker the number of the amount of Followers reaches 1,000, the quicker we can announce our next step as to what Crawford’s intentions are; for as you can imagine, many of wondered, and we are well aware of this. Yet, in light of Crawford being perhaps THE MOST REJECTED ARTIST OF HIS GENERATION in which he literally coined the name THRILLERBABY GENERATION for, we won’t be discouraged if you care to make everybody ELSE wonder along WITH you! The more the word gets out, the better. And THE MOST PASSED AROUND DEMO WITHIN THE MUSIC INDSUTRY is of course on iTunes for those of you who don’t know. Just enter JOSHUA CRAWFORD and PLAY ME and he pops right up. But knowing you, you probably already knew that. Again, this letter is being presented here exclusively not on www.ThrillerBaby.com, but here on myspace first, under Crawford’s wishes; as he is very devoted to the many Jackson fans of the world, but he is also very devoted to the many fans of his own who were the first to believe in him, his talents, and his purpose … long before both the music industry and the publishing industry ever did and perhaps ever will. And feels they need to be offered the news of the Twitter page first, before everybody else catches on, but also knows that by doing such, perhaps they will in return get the word out, and thus everything will come into play with what we, as a generation, should do next. So again, we urge you, ask you, and acknowledge you to spread this news of the Twitter page to all who will listen, and though it may take some time, once we reach the 1,000 mark on our FOLLOWERS numbers, Crawford will then orchestrate us on what to do next. We thank you, our www.myspace.com/ThrillerBabyGeneration friends and of course the www.myspace.com/JoshuaCrawford and www.myspace.com/SignaturePlace fans for all your support (as does Joshua Crawford), and we sympathize with each and everyone one of you on the many tears that have been shed over Jackson’s death, and concerns for the welfare of his beloved children. We’d like to think that we are now picking up the torch were Jackson left off. And we, along with Joshua, are more than honored to do so in an effort to share with everyone what Jackson meant to not only the world and our specific generation in which Crawford foresaw and coined the name for, but for our entire universe. Afterall. Music is the universal language in which we can all speak. And both Jackson and Joshua shared, and continue to share, this common gift and interest. For as you know, much of Crawford’s music was inspired by Jackson’s work, as was Crawford’s novel; SIGNATURE PLACE. Thank you and God bless, And here’s the web-address again of the official ThrillerBaby TWITTER page. www.twitter.com/ThrillerBaby ************************************************************** We urge all of you who might be unfamiliar with Crawford, to pay a visit to www.JoshuaCrawford.com, www.SignaturePlace.com, and his beloved www.ThrillerBaby.com to get reacquainted with his work and efforts, and how we, as a generation, can truly … MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE. ************************************************************** PS: for those fans of our popular “THRILL OF THE MONTH” feature that first began here on our ThrillerBaby myspace page, then ended up on the official www.ThrillerBaby.com site once the site got revamped on August 8th of last year, please know that we haven’t forgotten you, and that a current THRILL OF THE MONTH has been up and running on ThrillerBaby.com ever since the news of Jackson’s death first broke. We think you’ll be pleased with Crawford’s current selection, and in honor of Jackson’s legacy, Crawford has decided to leave it up for a while, beyond its usual 1-month run to for those that might not have had a chance to see it during its initial run. Although in the past, we had featured our Thrill Of The Month here on our ThrillerBaby MySpace page at one time, we are now only featuring the beloved THRILL OF THE MONTH on the www.ThrillerBaby.com website in an effort to detour all of you loved ones beyond just the zoo of myspace and the many other social networking sites that are certain to became zoos as well. We love all those site, just like you, and will continue to embrace them as Crawford sees fit in the days to come, but for the time being, we want to try to gather you all in one place in a more larger format than just myspace. For as you can imagine, our generation represents quite a few more people other than those that are internet friendly. People of all races, creeds, colors, cultures, and disabilities. Please also be patient with the ThrillerBaby.com website, as due to the recent nature of world events surrounding Jackson, the site has, from time to time, experienced overloads and need for modifications. We will be working on fixing all problems within the next few months, and like each of you, our thoughts and prayers go out to those that had Michael’s welfare and best intentions at HIS best interest, not theirs. Particularly his children, in which we know, will continued to be prayed for, along with our entire THRILLERBABY generation in which Crawford coined. Have hope and be encouraged that the revelation of Michael’s influences are surely to come! ************************************************************** Here is the ThrillerBaby TWITTER page address one more time for those that care. We urge you to feel free to pass the news around! GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS! www.Twitter.com/ThrillerBaby ************************************************************** Visit our "ThrillerBaby.com WEBSITE" and sign our "ThrillerBaby GUESTBOOK" ************************************************************** YOU JUST FOUND THE COOLEST PAGE ON MYSPACE ! ************************************************************** YOU KNOW YOU'RE A THRILLER-BABY IF YOU WANT TO CREATE YOUR OWN "UKnowYou'reAThrillerBaby" COMMENT FOR OUR NEW ThrillerBaby.COM!!! Here, like this: "YOU KNOW YOU'RE A THRILLERBABY IF ... when friends asked to come over to your house, you simply replied, "Naw.... My parents are in the middle of a divorce and they're watching 'Dynasty'". ************************************************************** This is not a band by the way, this is a myspace page entirely devoted to the THRILLER-BABY GENERATION: those born 1965-1980; a term created by author/singer-songwriter JOSHUA CRAWFORD from his SIGNATURE PLACE epic novel about latchkey kids in the 1980s) that is a combination of the word "Thriller", the name of the mega-selling Michael Jackson album that dominated the coming-of-age years of this generation (the best selling album of all time with over $100,000,000 copies sold!) ... and "BABY"; taken from "BABY BOOMER" ... who were the parents to this generation, that were the first generation to escalate the divorce-rate and/or have double-incomes that placed mothers in the workforce in record numbers; spitting out an entire generation of self-raised latchkey kids - THRILLER-BABIES! ************************************************************** * * * * * *The "THRILL-OF-THE-MONTH" for OCTOBER 2008 ! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The following video will mark HISTORY at ThrillerBaby.com for being the first "modern" artist to land the coveted "Thrill-Of-The-Month!" After surfing TV late one night a few weeks ago, Joshua Crawford was a bit dumbfounded when he landed on VH1-Soul, which is the African-American offshoot of Vh1-Classic, and thought he had the wrong channel (?); for how could it be that a WHITE man was singing on an otherwise BLACK music-video channel? Right away, the graphics for the video, with remnants of late-70s/early-80s cheesy computer logos and silhouettes of stars in the sky that form the shape of the artist's face ... caught his attention. "I could tell, whoever this was, was deeply inspired by that "ThrillerBaby MAGIC" of having grown up watching such images on TV." (Notice the opening credits right of the bat that resemble the THX sound logo from George Lucas.) "My favorite part in the video is when the word "MAGIC" turns into a lightning-bolt." But what also caught Crawford's attention, was that for the first time in a VERY long time, neither the male featurted in the video, NOR the FEMALES, were half-way dressed with gold-chains around their bare necks while popping up in hot-tubs and pretending to know what the word monogamy means. And the beat? Well, it wonderfully reeks of Michael Jackson's golden years, combined with the vocal style of Marvie Gaye and Hall and Oates; with the later having been one of the early pioneers of having their WHITE music ... played on BLACK radio. ("I Can't Go For That" anybody?) Soon, Crawford was hooked, not only by the refreshing unusual video, but by the prestige and classiness of all that encompassed it, and only PRAYED the actual song would live up to its wonderfully-directed HYPE. It did. What was even more cool, is when the singer-songwriter revealed himself to be strangely familiar to looking like a very-young-version of the dad on the 1980's hit TV-series, Growing Pains. Turns out, the singer-songwriter ... is the dad's SON! And the most wonderful thing about this? The son is a thrillerbaby ... with two previous albums ... who has already worked with Michael Jackson and like Crawford, not only plays the piano, but launched himself at a relatively SLOW START for someone so talented, having literally waited a very long time in line ... to get that MAGICAL record-deal that would finally introduce his style to the rest of the world. A style that is so obviously inspired by the golden-age of any thrillerbaby, that, "...for a moment, I literally thought I was watching some old early-80s movie! (I'm still waiting for that record-deal by the way.)" So here we go. With a "bridge" midway through the song that simply states: " I know sometimes sometimes you feel no hope ... But I’ve been down off that lonely road. I took whatever gift he offered me ... Because I knew that he would set me free " ... we can't help but wonder ... if this guy's inspiration ... doesn't come from a higher-source. (?) And did anyone know that his dad, actor Alan, before landing his role of Jason Seaver on Growing Pains, wrote TV-themes? (That's Alan singing, "Come and knock on our door!" from Three's Company, which conicidentally, is featured on the Signature Place soundtrack!) And the songwriter's mother, Gloria Loring, (also an actress and singer) sang the great lost hit of 1986, "Friends and Lovers" with Carl Anderson. So here's to you Robin, you've got the magic ... ... now don't lose it by sinking into pop-star bliss! (And yes, a very young Robin can be found on various episodes of The Wonder Years and Growing Pains.) With strong influences by Kubrick's "2001" and Fred Astaire, ThrillerBaby.com's "THRILL-OF-THE-MONTH" for October, 2008 is . . . (DRUM ROLL PLEASE!) ... "MAGIC" by ROBIN THICKE (Directed by Robert Hales and Thicke himself.) JUST HIT THE "STOP" BUTTON ON THE ABOVE MEDIA-PLAYER AT THE TOP OF THIS PAGE TO STOP THE THRILLER-BABY SONGS (THE "SQUARE" BUTTON), THEN CLICK ON THE BELOW VIDEO, AND ENJOY!
************************************************************** "YOU KNOW YOU'RE A THRILLER-BABY IF ... you did your history report on Jordache, Polo, Guess, Calvin, Ocean Pacific, Hobbie, Members-Only, Chic, and IZOD! " ... or ... ______________________________________________________________ "YOU KNOW YOU'RE A THRILLER-BABY IF ... after seeing "Sixteen Candles", you tried to sit on your glass-top diningroom table, to see if it'd break. You also know you're a ThrillerBaby if you thought it was possible to create a dream-woman from a Barbie-doll and a computer, or if you prayed that 'The Breakfast Club' and 'St. Elmo's Fire' would have sequels every two years!"" ************************************************************** SEND IN YOUR OWN "UKnowYou'reAThrillerBabyComment", and if we like it, we'll post it ... AND THE NAME OF WHO CREATED IT ... on our new website August 8th; ThrillerBaby.Com. Come on, we know you want to .... ************************************************************** The ThrillerBaby Generation team is proud to acknowledge that the estate of the late great 1980s artist "LAURA BRANIGAN" has given us a "THUMBS UP" on our "THRILLER-BABY-VIDEO-OF-THE-MONTH" pick for June 2008 with a strong compliment! ______________________________________________________________ To view Laura Branigan's 1984 classic video for "THE LUCKY ONE", simply STOP the "THRILLER-BABY SONGS" at the top of this page by hitting the SQUARE button in the myspace Media-Player, then scroll down to the ThrillerBaby Music-Video for JUNE 2008 on this page, and click ON THE SCREEN! TO SEE WHAT LAURA BRANIGAN'S PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT US, VISIT WHAT LAURA BRANIGAN IS SAYING ABOUT THE THRILLERBABY GENERATION MYSPACE PAGE! Laura Branigan was an ahead-of-her-time musician responsible for the hits "GLORIA" and "SELF CONTROL" that died all too suddenly in 2004 from a brain aneurysm when she was right in the middle of recording another album and bringing forth her own cookbook. Two of her songs were even featured in the Thriller-Baby Classic 80s movie "FLASHDANCE"! ThrillerBabies wouldwide will continue to make sure she, and her unique sound, are never forgotten. Long Live Laura! ______________________________________________________________ This page is for all the THRILLER-BABIES in the world, not just America. When Pac-Man ruled the arcades, Alex P. Keaton ruled the TV, black and white checkered vans ruled the mall, and MTV gave every musician we'd ever known until that point ... a major facelift, much less actually AIRED MUSIC VIDEOS! ______________________________________________________________ Come join the fun; but you have to be a Thriller-Baby. Not a BabyBoomer or Generation Xer. 1965-1980 only. ThrillerBabies have deserved their own myspace page for quite some time, and now, behold, it's finally HERE! ______________________________________________________________ Have suggestion? Send us a message. Want to buy the book that created the word? Visit SignaturePlace.com ______________________________________________________________ Want to know more about the author that created the book? Visit Joshua Crawford's MySpace page or JoshuaCrawford.com ______________________________________________________________ Are you a thriller-baby? Tell us about yourself and why you think millions of thriller-babies would find you not only interesting and important, but beneficial. By the way, we LOVE comments. Feel free to leave one. And don't throw away that THRILLER-album. It now has an entire GENERATION named after it! PARTY ON DUDE!______________________________________________________________ With June's highly anticipated re-release of the 1980 thrillerbaby classic film Xanadu onto DVD that contains the SOUNDTRACK to the film as well in a delicious DVD/Soundtrack-COMBO, we couldn't help but be charmed at the opening sequence; as this beloved thrillerbaby film hit theaters one entire year before Mtv made its debut in August of 1981, and it certainly seemed to indicate that "visual music" was soon to come into the lives of many living-rooms with not only the invention of MTV a year later, but the VCR itself that barely existed in the typical household in the early part of the decade, but by the mid 80s, became affordable enough to exist everywhere, and elevate films to cult status like this one. A box-office BOMB when first released, the beautifully choreographed film soon found its audience amongst US; the thriller-babies. And Jeff Lynne and his Electric Light Orchestra, (otherwise known as simply E.L.O.) sure made this 28 year old clip ageless in not only striking visuals which depict a sisterhood of muses on a mural wall that come to life and thrusts Olivia Newton-John into the life of struggling artist, but in SOUND. Issued as a single in May of 1980 and reaching all the way to $16 on "The Billboard HOT 100", this opening song for the film sounds just as FRESH as did back then. The film itself, would become legendary in that it popularized roller-rinks throughout America which became a major social scene for young thrillerbabies growing up in the 80s, and it remains a perfect example of how a box-office bomb ... is proven to be "no bomb at ALL!" if it has a rockin soundtrack that yielded five hit singles, and features visuals that look rather striking even in this now common world of CGI. How they did this, is just really cool; even by today's standards. (CGI wasn't placed into films until the release of the 1983's film "TRON".) This song itself will now become a part of history here on myspace in a way, as it will mark the very first time that we RE-NAME our monthly "ThrillerBaby VIDEO-of-the-month" ... the easier and simple "THRILL-of-the-MONTH!" to coincide with our new ".. "ThrillerBaby.com WEBSITE" that was launched just three weeks ago to much acclaim. So both the "THRILL-of-the-month" here on myspace, will now finally match the same one featured on "ThrillerBaby.com" simultaneously! (ALL are WELCOME to pay us a visit and sign our guestbook and play a couple rounds of "FROGGER" or "ASTEROIDS", or chat in one of our FORUMS at ThrillerBaby.com. If you recognize the male actor at the tail-end of this video, it's Michael Beck from the 1979 thrillerbaby classic film "The WARRIORS". Seeing that both "The Warriors" and "Xanadu" are featured prominently in Joshua Crawford's "Signature Place" epic-novel which coined the word "thrillerbaby", we can't help but find THIS particular "THRILL-OF-THE-MONTH" ultimately APPROPRIATE !!! So ... with that said ... our "THRILL-of-the-MONSTH" for September 2008 is ... (DRUM ROLL PLEASE!) ... "I'M ALIVE" by ELO !!! JUST HIT THE "STOP" BUTTON ON THE ABOVE MEDIA-PLAYER AT THE TOP OF THIS PAGE TO STOP THE THRILLER-BABY SONGS (THE "SQUARE" BUTTON), THEN CLICK ON THE BELOW VIDEO, AND ENJOY!
