Me with Crystal River! Had some latency issues but turned out pretty decent for one take recording live.
Influences
Anthony Burger, Huntley Brown, Dino as far as recent pianist, but I also draw a lot of influence from the classical field such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, List, as well as others.
Sounds Like
Don't really know how to categorize it. I have influences from all over the place. I like to take aspects from traditional southern gospel all the way to movie soundtracks and combine the sounds to see what I get. The results are usually unique and surprising. What can I say? I love music and I love making music.
Tommy McKenzie began playing the piano at the very early age of two. By the age of seven, he was taking formal lessons and performing in various churches in south Mississippi. At the age of 13, he began playing for a local family group and traveled around south MS and southeastern LA. After graduating from North Pike High School in 1999, he attended Trevecca Nazarene University until 2003. It was there that he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Business. His applied area of study was piano performance. After graduating from Trevecca, Tommy began playing piano for a group out of MS called The New Life Quartet. Crowds began to respond really well to his playing. In 2006, The New Life Quartet became Strong River Quartet and this is where Tommy continued to play until February of 2007. From February of 2007 until July of 2007, Tommy played for a group called Crystal River. During this time, he had the opportunity to perform in places where he had never been before. If nothing else, Tommy hopes that in his music as well as the music of groups he travels with that God will be glorified.
I'm never making music again. It makes Mom cheerful. Cheerful Mom makes cheerful phone calls in the not so cheerful morning. Alas, I still love the woman.
You know how proud I am to be your mom and that you got your talent from me! (Banging on things.) Just kidding. You came into this world very small and fragile, now look what God has done in your life!! Love ya bunches!!!
This is the reason your keyboard is falling apart. It can't handle the beatings you give it. You should video yourself playing the new song, so people can watch your hands get all blurry. It's fascinating.
Seriously though... I'm dying for some brownies. I'm going to get some cake, but I don't want the frosting. You should meet me in the kitchen, so you can eat it instead. I don't want to be wasteful.
You're such a punk. You made me get out of bed last night to open my door just to tell me that you were emailing me a couple of files, and then you didn't email me the dang files! I told you... You get some sort of sick satisfaction out of bothering me. Finish off that cake, so we can make the brownies, and I will find it in my heart to forgive you.
Brother! Earlier I dove onto Mom's bed to watch American Idol. She ended up calling me stupid, and I felt this unfamiliar pain in my chest. I was all excited for a minute thinking that I had developed some feelings, but then I realized I was just laying on the remote. Anyway, I have to go. I just burned my tongue on a Hot Pocket and my eyes are getting watery. Those things are so dangerous.
Happy Valentine's Day my sweet son. Stop throwing clothes at your sister though. Anyway, I hope you have a great day. You are a special piece of my heart and I miss ya bunches. Love ya lots!!!
I've spoken with Eva and the girls, and since you recovered everything we've decided not to poison you later. Joey was a little disappointed but Annalena thought it was for the best.
Stop leaving mean comments about me on Mom's MySpace. Not only does it almost hurt my feelings, but I'm also way better at it than you. See you soon Brother.
This country really needs a lot of help and a tremendous amount of prayer. If we all keep praying, God will prevail. Love ya bunches. Drive safe tomorrow.
