About me:
..
Uplift! is an alternative women's magazine. We're not one of those women's glossies that advocates the starvation tips of top models and tells you how to copy the look of some Z-lister...Instead, Uplift! offers intelligent views, questions the media around us, promotes creativity and is full of gorgeous art!
Uplift! started life as a gorgeously colourful 24 page printed publication, with a super 21cm square size. You can still buy this version from our current website -
www.upliftmagazine.com.

Who I'd like to meet:
Intelligent women who want to be shown a good time!
People who would like to get involved in

Rae will be supported by Ste McCabe our brand new favourite punkpop pisstaker: "A one man Buzzcocks, only more gay and more pissed off." and Ian Cockburn & the Whole World the Seven Inches frontman's anti-solo project, with songs of lost optimism and Pembrokeshire.
Rae Spoon is a young artist who proudly follows in the time-honored tradition of the singers he respects. Armed with influences such as Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams, he continues to mine the territory that lays between reverence for the greats and his own original perspective and voice. Rae’s cowboy-folk twang and prairie imagery is borne out of his history as an Albertan and his lyrics stem from his own unique life experience as a person who is transgendered (born female now identifies as male). Constant touring (mostly on the greyhound) with just a banjo and a guitar has also added to the depth of his storytelling.

After a little hiatus over the past 6 months while lots of other exciting things went on, Reassess Your Weapons zine is now looking to make a return with its 7th issue.
Reassess Your Weapons is the collective zine of the Manifesta collective, and its friends.
(see www.myspace.com/manifestaleeds or check out the new website which should be online soon at: www.manifesta.co.uk)
We're currently looking for contributions and submissions on any topics. Got something burning that you want to put onto paper? Feel free to contribute your thoughts, writings, musings, illustrations and creativities.
As well as general submissions, we also hope to dedicate a portion of the zine to a collaborative discussion on: 'Reflections and (Re)evaluations of Collectivity, Community, and Communication.'
Or just 'collectivity, community and communication' if you want a snappier title!
Make of this 'theme' what you will, and interpret it however you wish.
Hopefully it's broad enough to capture many diverging thoughts, and contributions.
As ever, send whatever you wish for inclusion (along this theme, or otherwise), and I look forward to patching a new issue of the zine together over the next few months.
Mail contributions to: reassessyrweapons@manifesta.co.uk
Thanks, Melanie xox
