"Van" features players from mostly tucson bands. naked prey..friends of dean martin..green on red..the fabulous stik ponies..trout unlimmeted..the urge.. the band of blacky[john stamos]ranchette ..serfers & on like that. when they came together as "Van",they fell into a world of musical fusion that hasn't been here in the"old pueblo of pretense"since we all discovered the true meaning of rock & roll back in the dawning of the 1980s. we boasted hometown to the likes of"channel 88"and "the blind leading the blind "make all the self congradgalatory movies that you can spend your trust fund on, don gt mention those bands as being instrumental in shaping the landscape of the musical mecca that is indeed too stoned Az.,and your just bothering folks with really bad fiction.[hows that for a run on sentence?] " Vans" new record kicks huge asses & crosses all political, social,& economical lines. its cool to hear a couple of rock s on a record from the "postpartum pueblo" for a change. it does seem as though all of the tucsn bands play alot of that "cuntree bumkin" ,Am.heartland crap. its easy to do,but painful to swallow in such massive doses. theres a bit of that on "NJ",but they can do it with some heart &get away with it. "Vans"grandfathered in. ..christian still enjoys making records. this would be the 1st one to be done all in AZ. front to back."it's taken so long, ive got 2 more records ready to go" says mr. christian "acually releasing them has always proved to be an exercise in futility, i may start skipping that part." Jumbo's Shinebox feckin' rules Van..got a copy of her and played it for the late night folks back when i was broadcasting..shook things up w/ 'touch the ground' & 'why'd ya do it jimmy'..all in all for surely some of the best (american) music ever made.
