    .. ........ .. .... .. .... .. ....About Marksmen .... .."Fresh Tampa four-piece Marksmen fuses hard roots and dark Southern rock in their inaugural recording, a solid 25-minute work marked by resounding rhythms and a vocalist whose wails are dosed heavily with raw longing. Singer-songwriter Geri X makes an appearance midway through for "Conformity Is Key," a pretty acoustic ballad with the ironic refrain, "You're too caught up inside of your idealistic mind / conformity is key / when love is what you seek / and you shall find, eventually, eventually." .. ..- 3 out of 5 stars Creative Loafing Tampa...... .."A few months ago, Soundcheck picked Glasgow as an Artist of the Day. Since then, not much has changed -- it's still Matt Segallos on guitar and vocals, Chris Brickman on guitar, Reed Murray on drums and new addition Glen Espinoza on bass. The band's tracks are still warm jolts of twangy alt-rock... ..But one big thing has changed: The band's name. Glasgow is now Marksmen... ..On Saturday, the band will celebrate the dropping of their new EP, The Blue and Grey, with a concert along their pals Tailgunner Joe and the Earls of Slander (who are also releasing a new EP, The Monkey Game, the same night). What I've heard of their music, I've liked (and I even like their side project Mend, too). And with an EP on the near horizon, there's a good chance Glasgow will play more local shows in the not-too-distant future... ..A southern folk-rock foursome peppered with doses of Jason Isbell, My Morning Jacket and especially The Thrills, Glasgow played first on Saturday. If you're into local music, they've got two of the catchiest singles you'll hear all fall: The Marksman and The Blue and the Grey (you can hear both songs on their MySpace)... Burly, bearded frontman Matt Segallos has a pleasantly sonorous Southern warble (not far from Conor Oberst territory) to go with a borderline unhinged electricity onstage.
