About me:
TWO DECADES ON FROM THE NEW ROMANTICS, A WHOLE GENERATION OF CLUBKIDS HAVE STARTED DRESSING UP AGAIN........
The New Romantics scene first emerged in London during the early 1980s. Clubs such as Blitz and Gossip, hosted by the likes of David Bowie and Boy George, set the scene as a direct reaction against punk music and its anti-fashion statement. The scene harmonised an eclectic mix of men in make up, outrageous, glamourous clothing and hedonism. As a result the scene was heavily documented, by the likes of photographer Derrick Ridges and greatly influential on fashion, art and music around the World. But despite this global interest, the initial London club nights were host to only a few privilaged people. All of whom new each other and religiously partied together in their magical, colourful world. When acid house kicked off in the late Eighties, a headlong rush to collective euphoria trampled any sense of individual style underfoot, and so followed the era of the Superclub and supercloned clubber.
2007 has seen the first emergance of such an influential scene, since that of the New Romantics. East End, weekly clubs, such as Boombox and Anti Social are causing a huge stir within the media and being dubbed as
the first scene to be breeding such an influential crowd since the early 1980s.
LondonFashionWeek.co.uk write
'....But as ever in London, the real story is the exploding subculture that;s fueling all the creativity. The source of the optomistic energy can chiefly be tracked down to Boombox, run by Richard Mortimer at the Hoxton Bar and Grill in the East End on Sundays. Here, Central Saint Martins student sybarites, drag queens and young designers compete in a weekly spectacle of outdress-thy-neighbour'
The result is a loose parade of clubs, bars, magazines and fashion labels that link and network the same gang of faces. What we shall call the post reality tv celebrity, created through the powerful force of myspace.
Myspace has been utilised in the same way it was used to kick start and promote the scene, in creating this time capsule project. WhoTheF*ckAreYou aims to find those crucial key figures, who contribute and attend the weekly nights associated with the emerging scene, and encapsulate their identity through imagery and their own voice.

Who I'd like to meet:
YOU have been chosen for this documentary/progressive art project, that is capturing the innovative youth clubbing scene of London at present. A scene that is a mish mash of all influences and an evolution in itself. A scene that pushes boundaries and accepts the socially unacceptable! You epitomise what it is all about, you are helping to shape its identity so make your mark.
The London 'Kool' scene is a platform for the rest of the country and the rest of the World. It is read about in the likes of i-D magazine and Italian Vogue and those who havn't been can only wish they had.
This project aims to give a static identity that concentrates on the characters that enter its crazy, colourful world, via the likes of the legendary Boombox and its alter ego Anti-Social. London's east end is home to an underground scene where if you are in the know you can flurish and become anything you want to be.
You have been photographed by conceptual fashion photographer Raych. The imagery has been added to the 'pics' area of this myspace. You need to find your shoot and then identify yourself. Build upon the appearence, but don't relate yourself necessarily only to that or indeed the night in question. Consider what you want others to know, your loves, hates, fears and dreams; who you truly are. The MySpace is essentially a pilot project which will result in a static ongoing website, used to encapsulate and exhibit the new London youth scene and its holistic identity.
Judge your book by its cover - afterall you are creating the cover to be judged!!!!!!!
