Music / Film / deviant private activities / Voice training / and usual well rounded type stuff
Music
Varried. From Tom Jones to Aphex Twin. With pit stops for Johnny Cash, Bowie and the Chameleons in between.
Movies
Artsy fartsy old school stuff as well B movie crap. I quite enjoy German expressionist cinema. Hammer films are grand too.
Television
Family Guy, Deadwood, Battle Star Galactica
Books
Celine, Sir Arthur Connan Doyle, Hunter Thompson, Yeats, Kafka, Blake, Poe, Neil Gaiman, Rumi...
Heroes
My Dear Sweet Mother who by all rights should have sold me to the gypsies during my bastardly youth but opted to rather stick it out and give me the benefit of the doubt. And of course myslef.
I am the defacto front person for a moody ambient rock band with goth / industrial tendancies. It is akin to a delicate blend of Bauhaus and the Psych Furs with a little Pink Floyd sprinkled on top.

Coming next Thursday is the next ISOLATION, Seattle's first and (still) only night of roots goth, with cult gems and classic cuts of batcave, gothrock, postpunk, deathrock, coldwave and other delightful darkness spun in good taste by yours truly.
And every month Isolation showcases a local/regional band that currently mines such atmospheres to show that non-EBM-infused goth is still alive and kicking.
And this month I'm pleased to present THE ARID SEA, who I've been a fan of since I saw them open up for Sol Invictus years ago. By that billing, they're obviously influenced by apocalyptic folk, but their sound is closer to Crisis and post-Crisis bands like Death in June and Above the Ruins, rather than Current 93 or Ostara. Their live appearances are rare, so catch them now while you can!
ISOLATION w/ DJ COLDHEART showcase by THE ARID SEA MARCH 26 @ RE-BAR 1114 Howell (at Boren) 10pm 21+ $6
There is in certain ancient things a trace Of some dim essence more than form or weight; A tenuous aether, indeterminate, Yet linked with all the laws of time and space. A faint, veiled sign of continuities That outward eyes can never quite descry; Of locked dimensions harbouring years gone by, And out of reach except for hidden keys. It moves me most when slanting sunbeams glow on old farm buildings set against a hill, And paint with life the shapes which linger still From centuries less a dream than this we know. In that strange light I feel I am not far From the fixt mass whose sides the ages are.
Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!
