There's a question that can run people in circles when they try to answer it: Do people change or do they grow? Ask any of the members of Yesterdays Rising, and they'll tell you they haven't changed, they've grown.
Yesterdays Rising formed in 2002 and self-released their first EP (Ship of Relations) in 2003. The group signed to Fearless Records in 2004 and released a second EP (When We Speak, We Breathe) following it up with "35 shows on 2004's Vans Warped Tour and were recognized as the youngest band to ever be a part of that tour." - CDNOW.com The following year the band released a full length record on Fearless Records (Lightworker). The album was released while on the 2-month-long Warped Tour 2005. Soon after, they made many trips around the U.S. and Canada. In early 2006 they toured in Japan with The Bled for the Japanese release of their full length (Lightworker). In April 2007, drummer Jamie Ethridge left the band and was replaced by Ryan Magdaleno. Around the same time the group parted ways with Fearless Records. Since then Yesterdays Rising has been hard at work to write a new album. They have tracked 3 new songs "The Art of Fear", "Labyrinth", and "The Alarm" with producer Aaron Edwards. These 3 songs were mixed by producer/guitarist Beau Burchell (Saosin). Currently (April 2009), they are unsigned and writing a new full length album that will feature all new, never before heard tracks. The album is said to be released sometime in the fall of 2009.
YR offers a wide variety of songs that cover the light and dark aspects of life. They'll take you to a truthful place where not all is right, with a dark landscape and moody atmosphere. This work is infected with hidden optimism that you will crave when life hits you square in the face. YR gives the the listener a fresh sound, with wide-ranged clean vocals and great musicianship. This band has shown their ability to perform improv jams at their live shows, as well as a solid performance of their songs that is said by many to sound better than their recordings.
You can count on these individuals to make a strong comeback, as they are currently writing some of their best material yet. Keep an eye out, a second LP is coming.
