About me:

Zahara has been bellydancing in the Greater Cincinnati area for nearly ten years. She began studying traditional (Egyptian and Turkish) bellydance in 2000, and has been gothic bellydancing since 2002. She currently teaches beginner, intermediate and advanced bellydance at the Kula Center in Newport, KY (right across the river). Current class & workshop listings are in the blog section. Zahara's crazy husband is the Wild Scotsman, who can be seen roaming around the city wearing his kilt and talking about Scotch! She has a bright-eyed, nearly two-year old daughter and a fiercely protective German Shepherd. Zahara has performed traditional and gothic bellydance at many wonderful places and events over the years, including Andy's Mediterranean Bar & Grille, The Cincinnati Zoo, the annual Pink Ribbon Hafla (to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research), the Cincinnati Witches Ball, Summerfair, Taste of Cincinnati, Kira's Oasis (in Dayton, OH), the Victory of Light Festival and many more. She'll return as a featured instructor at TL2 Production's second annual Gothalyptic Festival in Louisville, KY at the end of June 2009. Zahara also writes/sponsors the annual "Carnival of Evil/Carnival Noir", which was well-received in 2008 and lots of devilish fun! She's currently booking a few out-of-town workshops for 2010, and promoting "Horreur Classique" for the Carnival 2009 production. TICKETS FOR CARNIVAL NOIR 2009 ARE ON SALE NOW! Visit www.thecarnegie.com for more details! If you're interested in taking bellydance classes, scheduling a gothic or bellydance workshop, or hiring her to perform at your next event, send her a message. Sorry folks - no bachelor parties!

Who I'd like to meet:

Fellow bellydancers, those who enjoy the goth lifestyle (whatever that may be for you personally!), musicians (everything from Middle Eastern and world music to alternative, goth & rock), the artists listed on this page (HIM, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, etc.) and those who are inspired by their works, bellydance and/or gothic clothing & costuming designers, fans of vintage horror movies & literature, and people who are interested in collaborating on unique, bizarre works of art!
