I play Dell'Arte guitars and use PedalTrain pedalboards.

InfluencesAs a kid I was influenced by a wide range of artists: Doc Watson, Norman Blake, David Bromberg, Paul Simon, Jim Croce, John Prine, John Denver, Arlo Guthrie, Neil Young, CSN&Y, Reverand Gary Davis, Elmore James, Clarance White, Muddy Waters, and a host of other artists.

Classic Rock has been another major influence tg me. The Doobie Brothers, Heart, Boston, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zepplin, Yes, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Neil Young, Joe Cocker, The Beatles, The Who, The Guess Who, The Outlaws, Ten Years After, The Allman Brothers, Dire Straits, Grand Funk, Jimi Hendrix, and probably about 100 other bands.

I've traveled all over the musical map listening to everything from Mozart to Tom Waits, Phil Keaggy to The Chieftains, Oscar Peterson to The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jeff Beck to Bob Wills And The Texas Playboys.

I spent a few years immersed in jazz. Jim Wells, Jack Petersen, Joe Pass, Charlie Christian, Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, Spiro Gyra, Weather Report, Larry Carlton, Charlie Parker, John Coltraine, Kim Platko, Charlie Byrd, Freddie Green, Lenny Burrell, Tal Farlow, Herb Ellis, Django Reinhardt, Johnny Smith, and many many others.

I don't feel locked into any particular style of music. I love them all. As a result, I don't know if I can define my style of playing. In some ways I feel like a musical chameleon who can alter my musical color to blend in with my current environment.
Sounds LikeI sound like a bluegrass flatpicker who studied alot of jazz and classical music while making a living playing covers for years in classic rock and country bands whilst simultaneously playing in a celtic band just for the fun of it.

Below are some of the lessons/books/videos I have created. Click on any of the images for more detail.

   About David DeLoach
Greetings! I'm a guy who plays lots of different instruments, but guitar is my main voice. Over many years of study and down many musical roads I've found there to be four levels in music - mechanical, analytical, emotional, spiritual. When all these ingrediants are mixed, you find yourself catching a wave that carries you much farther than you could ever swim.

I've been lots of places over the years. What a long strange - but good - trip it has been. From playing lap steel in biker bars in Texas, to playing fiddle on the stage of the Opry, to competing in the National Flatpicking Championships, to playing solo jazz guitar gigs, to classical piano composition, to playing mandolin on the stage of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, to playing with a lot of people you've heard of and a lot more you haven't, to years and years of worship music, and much more I can't recall........

I've recently launched a web site - DeLoachMusic.com - on which I will have many materials (e.g. books, videos, etc.) available which I hope will assist many guitarists in becoming Master Guitarists. What is a Master Guitarist? It is simply a guitar player who has the ability to play the music that he or she is hearing in their heart. Whether that music is simple or complex is not important.

My first two books are now available. The first is titled "Play Skillfully - Moving Beyond The Horizon Of Creativity". The 384 page book contains an arpeggio, scale, mode fingering exercise that I play through almost everyday in about 45 minutes. This exercise draws of map of the entire fretboard which provides an endless number of options for improvistation, arranging, and composing. The book also contains a vast amount of insights on principles of musicianship as well as spiritual insights into playing the guitar.

The second book, Zamar Guitar, is a compilation of spiritual insights regarding music, guitar playing, and tapping into your full potential as a minstrel.

Hey David,
Hope you're doing fine. Just wanted to send you a picture of my Epi Broadway. Can't afford an L5, so I put an L5 pickguard on it, added an L5 copy tailpiece, some small black knobs that sort of disappear...and it looks pretty spiffy, I think. Sounds great, too. The neck is small and slim, unlike the Broadway's I've recently seen in the stores. This one is from '98.
Stay well, my friend...
Best Always...

Hey David,
I know you've got some great chops, BUT, how ugly can you convince the DMV that you really are?
Check out the bad driver’s license contest I’m having.
Go to www. dougthedrummer. com and take the “Bad Face Days at the DMV” tab!
If you think you've got the guts to go for it, I'll give you a hint: Just pretend you're taking a solo! See? It worked for me!
Peace
