About me:
Believe it or not I haven't been a christian my entire life, sure I went to church, got taught stories, my Mum and Dad are christians. But if I was born in a stable, it wouldn't make me a horse. (Appreciate the analogy please :-P)
// Throughout my life I had been questioning what I was being told, 'is there really a God out there?' 'what if wev'e got it all wrong?' but then on the other hand there were worries such as, 'where am I going after I die?'.
// I went on wondering, going to church, sunday school, learning stories, getting on with my life.
// However to put it bluntly I knew the way I was going, heaven was NOT where I was heading. Then came the summer of 2004, I attended a christian camp, where we slept in a field for a week, swam in the sea, climbed up rivers etc. But also the word of God was preached, every day. I found this bit a bit of a drag, but neverthelss went along with it.
// I don't remember much of what was said, but one sentence stuck out 'have you asked God for a new life?' At that second I knew that was what I had to do.
// All I did was acknowledge the fact that I was a sinner, acknowledge the fact that in the state I was in there was no hope for me, and I asked Jesus for a new life. Instead of my sin being dealt with as I deserved, the sin was dealt with by Jesus when he died on the cross, he had become my 'subsititute'.
// Some things in my life changed straight away, no longer was church somewhere I was forced to go, where I didn't really understand what was going on, things began to make sense.
// There are other aspects of my life I still struggle with, but I can be sure that however unreliable I am, God will never forsake me.
// Your reaction? 'that's cool for you, but not muy cuppa tea.' 'you off your knocker?' '!?!?' Or have your realised that we are all sinners and we need a Saviour and all we need to do is ask Jesus to change our lives, to forgive us our sins and He will do so. 'Whoever puts his faith in the Son has eternal life' John 3:36
