About me: Hello we're the local ann arbor polo group.... in fact the only polo group.
.
We normally meet on Sundays at 4pm at Palmer Field, here's the link, http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=ann+arbor,+palmer+field&ie=UTF8&ll=42.280413,-83.733019&spn=0.004239,0.007156&t=h&z=17
Some times we might have a location or time change, if we do I'll do my best to get an update out.
We have extra mallets already, but it's even better if you make your own, trust me, you will want a mallet that is going to fit you just right.
There is a crude diagram of how to construct a polo mallet, I will be updating this site and instructions, polo rules and tips, etc in the next few days.
COME PLAY!!!!
Who I'd like to meet: Any one who likes to ride a bike
I hope you guys had fun in Ypsi last weekend. The Mid Wests were a blast, but would've been better if you had shown up.
You can still come meet your midwest polo neighbors this weekend in Dayton, OH for the Gem City Massacre alley cat and polo tourney.
Look out for invitations to friendly games all summer long, or feel free to post your own! There's a handful of crews within a 4 hour drive from y'all.
I found some night polo spots for this summer. Anyone up for a mid-week night game?
Palmer Court Polo? (tennis courts at Palmer and Washtenaw) - the lights are bright as hell and the surface smooooooth.
If we get kicked out of the UM courts for laying down skids, we can always go to the lot behind Yost Ice Rink, or any of a bunch of spots in the State & Eisenhower area that are large, lit, and flat.
BTW, found a niiice spot for a rain day - better than Power Center Parking. Convention Center down by State and Eisenhower. Huuuuge. Flat. Lit. Nice pavement.
Dayton, OH on Sunday, April 13th. A day of regional introductions and casual play to get folks fired up to make the drive to Madison, WI for the 4th bi Annual Mid West Bike Polo Champeenshps? Chicago will send a car down for sure.
This is Igor's epic crash, ill fill in the details of what i can. He was on a sprint for the goal with the ball, myself right behind him, and what it seemed was that i put himself into a skid but was thrown up, and at the same time, both feet come unclipped, by that point he is on top of his bars with his chest, he actually rode it out for about 15-20 feet then hit the snow bank and flew like superman and face planted into the snow. He was perfectly fine, we were all so proud and laughing so hard we just stopped in the middle of the play. Best bike crash ever, end of story!
This afternoon we had our first game of season 2.0 , we only had 7 people (3v4), but Tim was new so it worked out well.
The game and skills this season are definitely getting stepped up, I pretty sure that by late spring we will have a field-able team to send out to other locals.
Also right now I'm toying with the idea of having wednesday matches once the weather gets warmer, possibly a little more laid back for beginners, location for that and times etc are still up in the air
SO for all you out there in internet land, Sundays 4pm Elbel field (weather permitting) , we will be out there until probably next November. Come by, hang out and watch, come play if you are interested. Don't worry if you've never seen a match before it's easy to pick up!
Pictures of todays match along with video hopefully (not sure if there was any taken) will be up asap. Igor your superman action might get used as our logo hahaha.
It is on. Bike Polo this Sunday the 14th of March at Elbel @ 4PM<-yes 4 not 3. We have plenty of daylight, and this way Jimmy and Adam don't have to close shop early to make it.

Alleycat on Monday - downtown Detroit. You might end up freezing your ass cheeks off since it'll be 10 degrees, but whatever. I'm bringing polo stuff, and the Ron seemed interested in a post-race polo game.
Thanks for the add guys. Which I could have made it down yesterday, I'm sure it was a good time. Anyways, I'd like to invite you to check out these forums I've been working on, all about connecting MI bikers and getting the word out about different events just like what you're doing - it'd be great to see you posting there.
Teams of three, but not all players may come from the same city.
Prizes TBA, but at least one team will walk away with a "CMWC/Post-American-Apocalypse Survival Kit" containing some cold hard Canadian currency and a jerry can of 100% Venezuelan high-octane gasoline.
More details to come ... keep your eye on, and announce your teams at, www.madbikepolo.org
Congrats to Matt, Andy, Igor, Nick and Jacob(i think thats what your name was) for winning the cup!
Thanks for everyone that came out today! It got a little slick and wet, and a good few people went down but no injuries! And we had a good few really sweet plays and goals!
hahaha yeah my apologies on the short notice, a few people sprung it on me and already had everything in the works before i even found out about it, if you can't make it thats no problem, i'm sure we will be having another one once the weather starts to warm up!
yeah we also would have loved to come but three days is not enough time to get schedules and cars set up...sorry folks...see ya soon...are you aware of the February 10th Winter Bike Polo Classic in madison, WI?
