This second installment of the Detour series invites the viewer to revisit the perceptual experiment conducted in Detour 1 only instead of presenting the images in a rapid succession, here they are slowly fragmented almost like a puzzle occasionally coming together to form complete images.

A performance experiment consisting of nearly 3 hours of home video footage arranged in an edit timeline and manually scrubbed at high speed in an attempt to generate random sensory impressions similar to memory fragments within the viewer's mind from which a personal subliminal narrative can be derived, similar to that of a recovering amnesia patient.

INTRODUCING CARLOS LOPEZ G AND CD4 THE BAND

CD4 the band, is a group of musicians from different backgrounds with a common link - to make original music with the purpose of raising awareness about HIV prevention.

Carlos Lopez G, composer, guitar player, vocalist and leader of the band, brought together a group of professional musicians with many young musicians. The band intends to motivate and interest young musicians in HIV prevention and to give them the opportunity to work with professionals to improve their skills. Carlos was leader of two well known bands in Spain in the ‘80s (Los Indeseables and later The Assasins)

Mélange Lavonne hopes to become a strong voice "for those who cannot speak." Please, watch this video, check out her MySpace profile (www.myspace.com/melangelavonne) and tell her what you think!

About me:

We are a team of caring, fun and creative individuals who have come together to do our part in fighting HIV/AIDS. People sometimes forget that this disease is still affecting people every day. The treatments that have been developed, while hopeful, do not work for everyone. And what we really want is a cure, but that is a goal we will have to work hard for. We will do our best to use this space to update you on news; highlight artists who actively support HIV/AIDS awareness; and share ways that you can help to make a difference.

While we have felt honored to help raise funds for so many other HIV/AIDS charities, our true goal is to see Artists Against AIDS achieve legal charity status of its own as a program in the Kindness Revolution. We feel this would open the door to allow us to reach out to people on a more personal basis and give us more freedom to make a true difference each and every day. However, whether it takes a week or a century to make that happen, there will always be someone here reaching out in whatever ways we can.

Thank you for your support!

The AIDS Art Alliance strives to use the arts to improve the lives of individuals affected by HIV and AIDS by providing artistic expression as a means of therapy, community, and education. Its mission is to increase awareness of and knowledge about HIV/AIDS; to inspire activism through volunteer participation and donations; and to help those affected by HIV/AIDS to lead full, healthy and productive lives. We hope you will help us realize our goals and become a part of this wonderful project. If you would like to make a donation towards our legal fees (to help us get our 501c3 charity status) or are in the LA or OC areas and are iterested in being on the Board of the Kindness Revolution (our parent organization) please message me.
