About me: A.A.C. is Art as an Agent for Change!
The mission of A.A.C. is to combat the plight of the opressed, engage inequities that divide us, combat social apathy and to inform and educate all who will listen to the realities that shape our lives.
A.A.C. encompasses many groups that use the medium of art (drama, visual art, poetry) for social change. All of our work incorporates our mission.
In the Spring of 2006, an organization originating from the mind of Paul Grigsby was brought to life by a rag tag band of student volunteer talent at Georgia College & State University. On February 14, 2006 the organization performed a play about AIDS awareness called "Trapped in the Pantry."
A.A.C. has since created 5 "Poetisicals" that utilize the arts of Spoken Word Poetry and Drama to further the mission to educate, inspire, and entertain. Tomorrow, A.A.C. might do a show for an issue you bring to our attention. It doesn't matter, that's what we do.
We live the motto, "be the change you want to see in the world," and we won't stop being until we start seeing. We use the mediums of art, specifically poetry, drama, film, and a pinch of music (with an ever boundary-expanding list), to fight the materialistic, stereotypical and misguided ideas presented in mainstream media and also to Educate, Entertain and Inspire with every performance. If you are in the Milledgeville area, catch one of our shows and you'll see what the hype is about (Guaranteed!). We are A.A.C and we always shut it down!
