Up from the streets of Austin, Texas and into the limelight, IMPAC is the hottest new group from the
South's New Era of Hip-Hop.
The genesis of IMPAC was an MC street beef mixed with a lot of love for hip-hop and a big dose of
skills. In one corner: Killa (19) and Zoe (19), who were both hard-core hip-hop heads before
they hit double digits. They teamed up and blasted into the local mixtape scene with hot freestyles
that earned them a serious fan base. In the other corner: freestyle MC brothers Kidd (20) and Tank
(21), who started out in hop-hop groups and staked their mixtape claim in Austin with hot mixes they
produced in their own home studio. Freestyle MC battles ensued, and there was no love between them
at first.
Eventually a chemistry began to develop between the future superstars, born of the common ground of
a tough life and much love for the music. Both duos had been making a lot of noise on the streets,
and word got back to local label Above All. Label executives came up with the idea of combining the
two, and the result is one of the hottest groups ever to come out of Texas.
IMPAC's debut album i burn up the airwaves in 2005. Though they're still young, their
style, flow, and lyrics are on par with hip-hop veterans. Never gimmicky and always on point, IMPAC
blends stories of their experiences growing up in the ghettos of Austin with the wicked freestyle.
Though the Album didn't reach the level Impac wanted to accomplish they still continue to bring heat in every bar.
Losing one of the members (Kidd) they quickly regrouped and continued moving foward. With new members with more in intent to become more than
just neighborhood rappers C.T (19) and Mo Cina (20). Impac has proving that there talents can shine over the drastic measures that face them.
