Richard Aaron's Interests
|
| General | piano, writing, practicing law, running insanely long distances on weekends. | | Music | Love Beethoven's last 5 Sonatas, but don't mind Metallica either. Seether is my current favorite band, U2 is the greatest band of all time, and Emmy Lou Harris is god. | | Movies | Anything loud and full of special effects, explosions, disasters ... you know the type. I would like to say that I'm a deeply philosophical intellectual, that I enjoy unraveling the subtle inner themes, the counterpoints between the characters, and the brilliance and depth of character portrayal, but I'd be lying. I like watching things blow up. | | Television | Pretty much anything with lawyers in it. | | Books | Clancy, Forsythe, Koontz, King, Grisham. Master-of-the-universe type people. Six years ago my wife of 15 years announced to me, without any warning, that she was leaving. Shortly thereafter, Kafka's Metamorphosis became my favorite. I knew exactly what if felt like to wake up one morning as a 6-foot bug, stuck to the ceiling of my room. That lasted for a couple of years, then I got back to the good stuff. | | Heroes | Terry Fox; Rick Hansen; Mohamed Ali |

Richard Aaron lives in BC, Canada with his wife, four children, two dogs, and two cats. After two decades of successfully practicing international law, he awoke one morning to the realization that he was actually meant to be a writer. Gauntlet was written soon thereafter .......................................................
"From a stunning new voice in international intrigue comes a tension-filled story about high-stakes missions, treachery, honor, an unlikely hero, and the ultimate terrorist attack…
Six hundred sixty tons of Semtex is detonated in Libya – the last of their deadly stockpile. The operation seems to have gone smoothly, but within minutes of the explosion, CIA agent Richard Lawrence discovers that a shipment of the explosive was hijacked en route. Days later, a glory-seeking “Emir” broadcasts to the world that he is planning a massive terrorist strike against America. He says he will destroy a major U.S. landmark. And he gives a time line of one month.
Now a desperate chase is on, as the men bent on attacking the United States use every weapon at their disposal to evade the American authorities. Time and again they prove willing to destroy anything – and anyone – standing in their way. But Hamilton Turbee, an autistic mathematician working for the newly created “TTIC” agency, finds a way to track them. Through his flawed genius, he will give the nation its only chance at survival … if the American leadership will listen to him. As the enemies near their destination, and an attack becomes imminent, it is up to the TTIC team, still without a true leader, to take that chance, and stop the massive explosion that could destroy the lives of millions.
As the world watches in horror, the President asks TTIC two questions …...........................................
Where will the attack be?
And can it be stopped…"

Who I'd like to meet:
Struggling unpublished authors and authors who have just been published. Works of fiction. Any kind. I am about to be published and it's been a long, tortured route. After wandering in and out of a hundred box canyons, I bumped into Carrie at Glass House Press, and while life didn't get any simpler, things became more focused. Hopefully I'm out of the Wilderness of Sinai now and am off to the promised land, but time will tell.
I'd also like to meet people with autistic kids, as one of my children is high functioning autistic.
