MySpace a place for friends

While planning his move to Los Angeles before college graduation in pursuit of a career in music, it didn’t take long for singer/songwriter Aaron Anderson to garner the attention of a few industry executives.

Singing in a friend’s wedding weeks before graduation, the 23-year-old Anderson met the former CEO of a label under Geffen/Interscope, and soon after signed on for management. After graduation and the move to Los Angeles, the 6-foot-1 former high school athlete signed on with powerhouse entertainment law firm King, Holmes, Paterno & Berliner (Dr. Dre, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Tori Amos, Marilyn Manson).

While writing and developing his music in 2006, Anderson began playing guitar and providing backing vocals for recording artist Mylin, who was coming off an international major label deal. The opportunity gave Anderson live show experience, as Mylin and her band played shows on Nick Lachey’s Tour, and with Five for Fighting, Patti LaBelle, Beth Hart, Jonatha Brooke, and Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band, amongst others.

The opportunity also afforded Anderson the chance to perform in some larger venues, including a 10,000 seat amphitheatre in Georgia, the Nokia Theatre in New York City, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, The Roxy in Hollywood, the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, and the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, as well as the opportunity to play 8 shows at U.S. military bases.

Also in 2006, Anderson began recording some of his new tracks with producers Paul Duncan and Miles, a tandem who’ve been a part of four major label projects as artists, and Duncan an ASCAP Award-winning writer.

In mid-2007, Anderson began playing shows with his new music, performing at some of Los Angeles’ prominent venues, including, The Mint, Molly Malone’s, The Hotel Café, and The Knitting Factory, where he opened for Beth Hart. Also in May, he was invited and performed at MTV for the music supervisors of all the network’s shows.

Anderson, whose music style has been compared to everyone from John Mayer and Gavin Degraw, to Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson, grew up in the Los Angeles suburb of Claremont, California, hometown of Ben Harper. He studied guitar in high school with John York of The Byrds, before attending Point Loma University in San Diego. While in college, Anderson was selected for and spent four months in the elite Contemporary Music Center on Martha’s Vineyard, an intensive, artist development program.

Anderson, who lives in Los Angeles, is currently preparing to re-enter the studio to record his newest tracks, while rehearsing with his band and scheduling shows throughout 2008.
