Sounds Like
One night after a show, a guy approached me and said "let me guess: your two favorite guitarists are Ted Nugent and Angus Young!" I told him he was half right. I fuckin' hate Ted Nugent.
I've been playing guitar and producing records since I got my start in the clubs of Boston. It didn't take me long to leave the fold of ego-driven guitarists and cultivate the view that the guitar is just a part of the big picture, not some phallic stand-in or a hammer of the gods. If a song calls for it, I'll play just three notes during the second verse, or I'll lay down 12 tracks of texture that may or may not sound like a guitar. It's about music first, the instrument second. On the other hand, you don't have to twist my arm very forcefully to get me to play 'Don't Stop Believing' note for note.
As a producer/engineer, I'm enjoying working on a variety of projects, from full albums to one-off tracks, to producing intimate string quartet sessions.
I am currently working on a new Paula Kelley Orchestra album (playing and co-producing) and am also in the midst of promoting Matt Nathanson'sSome Mad Hope, having just finished another extensive U.S. tour, this time opening for Lifehouse. More dates to follow.
I'm always looking for new bands and artists to work with, so drop me a line!

Just checking in, and giving you an update on where I stand with the recording of my debut record.
We have recorded all of the instrumental tracks, and most of the vocals. I was lucky enough to collaborate with a group of amazing musicians, and things are starting to sound awesome!!!
I hope to have all of the recording complete by mid March; leaving mixing, mastering and duplication to be done.
If all goes well, the record should be released sometime in April.
I was going to say hello at WorkPlay last night but you were hiding in the back somewhere. I told Megan to tell you I said Hi. Maybe I'll catch ya'll later this year or next. Peace* Ricky
