aaron yoo's Interests
|
| General | soccer, baseball, tenor sax, beats, records, turntables, garage band, comic books published by vertigo or written by alan moore, anime that's as good as cowboy bebop, video games as good as final fantasy vii, youtube but i prefer to let other people do the searching and send me the choice sh*t, learning other languages . . .
spending other people's money
forgetting things | | Music | um, this topic is absurd. i have 60 gigs on my itunes, supposedly 30.5 days worth of music. has anyone ever tried to outlast their itunes? like hungerstrike till every last damn strain of coldplay falsetto fades out? actually, on day 30.5 my itunes would cut out w/ yusef lateef and the zutons. i'll be straight, i don't know where i got the zutons from. obviously not legally . . . there was this bar cross street from my crib in nyc that had a jukebox that would NEVER play your song. finally we asked the bartender and he said that so many peoples fed that beast that "your song" you put in on saturday night would play at like 2:36 on tuesday afternoon . . . ok, last week or so in this new '07, i've been listening to d'angelo, talib kweli, krs-one, lester young, count basie, the arcade fire, lyrics born, manu chao, nick drake, tupac, alain souchon, jay-z, coltrane, dilated peoples . . . yknow what? this takes too long. | | Movies | another stupid question, but here's a list off the top of my spikey hair: cidade de deus, the godfather, in the mood for love, the big lebowski, once upon a time in the west, the matrix, moulin rouge, goodfellas, mulholland drive, braveheart, requiem for a dream, terror firmer . . . it might be too soon to add it to this list, but i just saw children of men and it wrecked me |

aaron yoo's Blurbs |
About me:
ok, y'all know what DISTURBIA is. THANK YOU for making it the #1 movie in the country for 3 weeks. not sure if you guys realize how unbelievable or how stupidly rare that phenomenon is, but it's greatly appreciated. been hearing the most amazing things from people about how much they enjoyed the film. i thought i'd seen it a ridic # of times, but some people def have me beat out. hey i hope the good shouts are also being thrown to our director, DJ. you can check his profile on my top friends below. he's the wizard, so keep up w/ him and his future projects bc he's one of the best directors in hollywood. if you're an actor, you should dream about workin w/ him one day. ;-)
so up next:
AMERICAN PASTIME
picture this: it's 1941. you're on your way to college on a baseball scholarship. you're sneakin outta your house at night to play jazz gigs in downtown los angeles. life is swingin... and then the japanese bomb pearl harbor. the united states government passes executive order 9066 authorizing the forced relocation of japanese and japanese americans to internment camps. you look in the mirror and where before you saw an all american kid, now you see a japanese face staring back at you. and you think, "my life. is. over..." that's where this story starts.

* check the the profile in my top friends for screenings in your area
* the official movie website (w/ the trailer) is http://americanpastimemovie.com
* if you've missed the screenings in your area or the theatrical run in LA, the film will be released on DVD by Warner Home Video on May 22nd in conjunction w/ Letters From Iwo Jima
* if you want to learn more about Japanese American baseball heritage hit up Nisei Baseball Research Project
* more on Japanese American internment in WW II on these websites: Densho.org and Go For Broke National Education Center
ROCKET SCIENCE
***WINNER: BEST DIRECTOR, SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2007***
a stutterer decides to join his high school debate team to pursue love and find his voice... it's not, in the grand scheme of things, as distatrous as the decision to say, develop the atomic bomb or board the titanic. but it's up there.

* the website's not up yet but will be at http://www.rocketsciencemovie.com/
* the film's being released by Picturehouse on August 10th. it's not gonna open wide immediately, but no worries it'll expand into all markets as it goes, so it'll open across the country as it builds an audience
21

* ok we just finished this one and it's slated for March 21st, 2008. so you got a while to wait, but TRUST ME it'll be worth it.
* in the meantime, you've all heard the story about the MIT card counting team that hustled Vegas for millions on the blackjack tables, but if you want all the dirty details, grab a copy of Bringing Down the House, by Ben Mezrich. you can hit up ben's official website to learn more: http://www.benmezrich.com/

Who I'd like to meet:
a technicolor donut on the verge
of finding a cure for conversation if
and only if
there were ten more miles of bullets
lining the road home
there was sense to this when
it thought of ending itself but not before
or since the beginning of green
planet that now looks cigarette stained and
carbon colored. what is that? the color of
death?
i dunno.
i should quit smoking.
are you high, he asks are you ripped
from the pages of a tabloid screaming
bullet full of snuff
am i
am i high, how would i
know? compare it to what?
reality?
baghdad?
my ipod?
