What began with a flyer looking for a drummer soon evolved into a power duo of Nick (guitar) and Jeremy (drums). The two spent almost a year jamming with several musicians in order to find the perfect lineup. Going through many of phases of music, they touched on many styles to incorporate into their playing.
After few lineup changes, they had invited bassist Jay to join them with new group, Showstone. An album was already recorded, and the summer would be theirs for playing. However, later that summer, new projects and groups came into the mix and they all decided to take a break. During this period is where Concrete Lullaby and Feldman took their place in the local music scene.
That Fall, Nick and Jeremy formed A Avenue, and reunited with Jay to round out the rhythm section. After a brief stint of playing bars and clubs in Dickinson, they agreed that playing live on a much broader level should be a priority.
So from the guys who brought you such memorable bands as Group Therapy, Showstone, Feldman, Concrete Lullaby, and the previous incarnations of A Avenue, we're glad to to announce our re-birth into this music scene. We are A Avenue v3.0.
April of 2006 began as a fresh start for this group of midwest musicians, with the addition of new vocalist, Dustin. Familiar to the music scene, he brings the front-man element to this band, with his laid back style and smooth melodies. Immediately after the addition, a new approach to music was evolving, in which they decided to ditch many of the classic rock songs that only reach a fraction of their audiences.
Another lineup change took place in August of 2007, as bassist Jay stepped down. Brian Lange joined the band thereafter, bringing the mellow element and smooth playing style of chill.
Now embracing the likes of modern/alternative rock, A Avenue now includes many set-list crowd-pleasers by such bands such as Sublime, Shinedown, Weezer, System of a Down. Although covers, they are not your ordinary stripped down versions. The guys thrive on creating unique arrangements to keep things fresh for everyone.
The band expects to begin rocking shows mid summer! Check back for updates!
What to Expect
Our shows are not for the faint of heart. In fact, if you ARE faint of heart, we salute you visiting our MySpace page. You truly are brave. Regardless, we have enough PA to power a large hall and outdoor venue. You'll get the highs, mids, and powerful lows full of kick drum and bass guitar. That's how we like it! We have also just acquired a light show for maxiumum rockage and viewing pleasure!
Gear
For those interested in what we play, a short summary has been compiled.
Nick plays Fender/Gibson guitars, Mesa Boogie amplifiers, and various footpedals including, but not limited to, Boss, ElectroHarmonix, and Vox. Brian plays Fender & custom made basses and Ampeq heads/cabs. Jeremy plays Pacific drums, Sabian cymbals, and DW pedals.
