Abandon Building Records

>Dear Listener,

>          The cold gusts of wind blowing through the broken panes of ABR headquarters promise the coming of winter, where we all spend a few months trapped indoors. Luckily there is a bunch of new material to keep your ears warm and active while the rest of your body goes into hibernation.

>Out Now/Soon

>          V/A : Assemblage Sessions 2: A compilation of various artists working within a variety of styles, featuring well and unknown names. No real theme or concept for this comp, just a collection of songs celebrating the weirdness of sound.

>         DoF: Sun, Strength and Shield: His best work to date, a full length of comfy blankets of guitar and piano melodies over a hard bed of digital percussion. An expansion of the style displayed on the classic EP Mine is May that experiments with more dissonate compositions and increasingly complex programming.

>         Back Ted-N-Ted: Pop Animal: The solo debut of Phoenix AZ based producer Ryan Breen (Lymbic System, Coppe'). A 45 minute journey across glitchy dub laptop scapes, punctuated by non-linear vocals and mad chopsuey styles on the beat making tip.

>         Low in the Sky: We Are All Counting On You, William: The power of postrock in 4 minute pop songs. Three Ohio lads who transform live instrumentation into a puzzling mixture of organic and digital aesthetics, through meticulous post production pruning. LITS is the first ABR co-release with their label Patternbased.

>          DoF: Red Pine Pasture: An EP's worth of new DoF songs plus remixes from Sun, Strength and Shield by the extended Abandon Building fam. Five of the Six new DoF songs feature vocals, a first for our boy Brian. The remixers include Set In Sand, Low in the Sky, Juxtaphona (Jason Corder), Phylum Sinter, and Crillix. It's pretty freaking decent.

>          Set in Sand: Nothing Against The Ocean: The Set in Sand debut, licensed to the Japanese label Hue Records. Eight songs with eighty personalities, a genre bending exploration of a one man band trapped in a computer. Half the album is instrumental, the other vocal oriented, a half baked pop masterpiece by electronic smarty pants Lendin Hopes. This isn't the nothing you're used to having never heard anything like before.

>          Plans for 08 include the Flowtation Addvice debut Terrain Clouds (where so-called MC's Moot and Lisp tell adult nursery rhymes over Set In Sand productions), a new Set in Sand full length, Doubtfull Glass Of Water, and a bunch of other ideas in the works... Say word.

>          We are also starting a spinoff endeavor of the name acrawlspace, which will focus on limited runs of CDs in handmade packaging and downloads available for free or a donation. It will kick off with a comp featuring your Abandon Building favorites and a handfull of new friends. We figure that there are already tons of reasons that music never ends up getting released, empty pockets should not be one of them.

>          Well, that's all there is to say, its more important to listen than it is to speak. That's why the world gives us two ears each and only one mouth. So hush up.

                                    ...and remember...

"BY GOLLY, WE REALLY DO CARE!"

Apegenine recordings KANEEL_Album sales

Feb 8 2008 1:29 AM

Kaneel's I've sketched it a while ago goes into presales today, and will be released febuary 25th !

You can buy the album now and it'll be shipped on release date the 25th of febuary.

Thank you for your support.

About Kaneel's music:

I’ve Sketched It A While Ago is French musician Guillaume Richard’s first commercial release, and we’re proud at Apegenine to debute another great talent.
It would be easy to dub this release ‘ IDM’, but just as Kaneel’s been showing in the netlabel scene for years now, his music is much more than drills and bass. Under the overlaying fuss of glitches and hectic beatwork, Kaneel’s subtle music sinks into nostalgia and tenderness with his explorations into pop melodies. ‘Naïve’ is a term often used to describe Guillaume’s tracks; unstable and ecclectic yet dreamy and welcoming, the result is a sometimes chaotic feud of cuteness and destruction and other times, anthems to blowing bubbles and inspecting clouds.

Always on the move, Guillaume has recently expanded his vision by seting up the petite&jolie netlabel alongside friend Maxime Lethelier, searching and releasing naive/cute music from all around the world.
