Abandon Building Records

>Dear Listener,

>ABRACSGROWSSIDEWAYS

>          Hello, join us here at the new AbandonBuilding / ACrawlsPace. We?ve thrown a little paint there and here and built some weird sculptures from broken appliances and sawdust, then invited a lot of new music to fill up these refurbished rooms.

>          Firstly relating with the current resonant climate of this domain, we?re going to be doing a lot of limited releases, and when we do they will come out on a leg of this building called ACrawlsPace. The ACrawlsPace catalog should be introducing a lot of vibrant new musical projects to the already endless ocean of sounds, as well as sharing more quaint collections from our favorites. (the stuff that changes us in ways that feels like growth) Another quite interesting aspect of ACrawlsPace is in the packaging, which should stray away from the standards previously explored on earth up to this point in time.

>          And there?s a slew of Set in Sand goodies on the way. First is a short instrumental piece of experimental ambient works called Remembering Everything Seams Together, released in a canvas package with random stitches sewn into it. The music is far removed from the SIS we?ve loved for so long, and the soothing thing is, we love it just the same.

>          SIS REST will be followed then by a more theatrical vocal oriented full length, Doubtfull Glass Of Water. DGOW explores the world of a shadow attempting to quench his thirst in reaching for a drink of water on the table, half empty, and half full. Its hand passes through in January 09.

>          Sometime in the midst of all of this keep your ears peeled for SIS remixes, covers, and originals among collections on,,,

IVDT for a compilation called ?Before We Melt?,,,

Symbolic Interaction, a remix for Oba Masahiro,,,

Xynthetic, a remix on Phylum Sinter's From Unity To Segmentation / There's a Place about the experience,,,

The Peppermill Records, a cover of a real decent tv theme song,,,

and ACrawlsPace, VA ? A Monster Hatches An Egg.

>          Color Cassette has just released an energetic double 3? cd on Mobeer, a limited subcompartment of Europes Moteer. They will also be offering up a collection of slower more relaxed vocal material later this year in a collaborative effort between Autres Directions and AbandonBuilding, called Forever Sparrow.

>          Ghost and Tape will be sharing a lovely collection of songs with us. It is GAT?s first album and it?s a gem, oh what a wonderful place to go anytime, we?ve really enjoyed putting this one on while working on sculptures or collages. Look for Ghost and Tape sometime between January and February.

>          And finally but not lastly, the shoots and giggles real life serious voiceable trio of Flowtation Addvice shares their sounds with the world in a collection of 8 stories called ?Terrain Clouds.? Something to do with a cloud of brain compartments in the head of a goat. TC will be co released with Japan?s Hue Label, sometime in the beginning of 2009.

>          Well that?s it for this season, many a decent listen to you all.

                                    ...and remember...

"BY GOLLY, WE REALLY DO CARE!"

Have your very own Abandon Building tunes?

ABR011 - Flowtation Addvice - Terrain Clouds CD
  • ABR010 - Ghost And Tape - Ghost And Tape CD
  •           The eponymous debut of Barcelona based producer Heine Christensen, a soft blanket of reversed guitars, sampled music boxes and static wrapped vocals. This is one of the most relaxing records we’ve ever experienced, a great background listen that brightens your internal afternoon.

  • ABR009 - DoF - Red Pine Pasture CD
  •         A one-offish ep’s worth of new material from DoF, with vocals on the majority of his contributions. The singing is provided by DoF mastermind Brian Hulik with occasional guest duets over a slightly more traditional interpretation of Brian’s signature sound. Also featuring a handful of remixes from Abandon Building friends and fam, this cd offers a glimpse into future DoF experiments.

  • ABR008 - Set In Sand - Nothing Against The Ocean CD
  •         The debut of Lendin Hope’s one man armada of sound. A full length with eight works of orchestral indie-tronica, rocking vocal on half the tracks. Complex interlacing progressions that defies easy classification, but its all pretty freaking decent.

  • ABR007 - Low In The Sky - We Are All Counting On You, William CD
  •         A stunning second album from the Ohio trio that unfortunately disbanded a few months after its release. LITS takes the best movements from jam sessions and digitally alters them into short and sweat burst of post rock flavored atmospheric melodies and driving rhythms. Cinematic music for your day to day life.

  • ABR006 - Back Ted N Ted - Pop Animal CD
  •         The debut of producer Ryan Brean, a treasure trove of disjointed pop anthems with chopped up vocals and audio samples. Very accessible prog influenced electronica.

  • ABR005 - V/A - Assemblage Sessions 2 CD
  •         Another road trip through the outback of underground music, showcasing artist who don’t conveniently fit into a genre. A lot like the first one, only more so.

  • ABR004 - DoF - Sun, Strength, and Shield CD
  •         A full length which examines the same terrain as Mine is May, with greater focus. Its peaceful mood is often shaded by dissonance and startling changes, creating a whirl wind of feelings. DoF’s best work to date, a must for any experimental electronica fan.

  • ABR003 - ABR's Assemblage Session 1 CD
  •         The first in a series of comp’s that bring artists one wouldn’t ordinarily associate with each other together on a cd. All of the extended Abandon Building family is their, along with other artist from around the world. No real theme to this one, just a bunch of decent tunes that feel good.

  • ABR002 - DoF - Mine is May - CD
  •         A truly lovely eight song ep from Brian Hulik. A contrast of lush organic melodies over electronic percussion. A great listen that feels both new and familiar, this release established the sound DoF has been perfecting since.

  • ABR001 - Sheveks Masada - Hip Hop for Dishwashers, Scumballs, Upstarts 12"
  •         The very first Abandon Building record! This 12 inch piece of vinyl features 4 instrumental songs from Smaze (Conrad Newholms, Beneath Autumn Sky). The music is beet oriented longer songs that combine outlandish electro embellishments over a solid framework of traditional hip hop.

hey guys,

Hope all is well, and you're enjoying life :-)

I'm getting more and more exited by the day, waiting for the release to hit the streets.

I've uploaded some new tracks that you might like to enjoy.

Here in BCN, life is good. I'm skating a lot and finding inspiration for my new songs.

There is quite a stir of possitive energy here in Europe after Obama got in office. Hope he will do good for your country...

Take care and keep in touch,

heine /ghost and Tape

Kaneel's I've sketched it a while ago goes into presales today, and will be released febuary 25th !

You can buy the album now and it'll be shipped on release date the 25th of febuary.

Thank you for your support.

About Kaneel's music:

I’ve Sketched It A While Ago is French musician Guillaume Richard’s first commercial release, and we’re proud at Apegenine to debute another great talent.
It would be easy to dub this release ‘ IDM’, but just as Kaneel’s been showing in the netlabel scene for years now, his music is much more than drills and bass. Under the overlaying fuss of glitches and hectic beatwork, Kaneel’s subtle music sinks into nostalgia and tenderness with his explorations into pop melodies. ‘Naïve’ is a term often used to describe Guillaume’s tracks; unstable and ecclectic yet dreamy and welcoming, the result is a sometimes chaotic feud of cuteness and destruction and other times, anthems to blowing bubbles and inspecting clouds.

Always on the move, Guillaume has recently expanded his vision by seting up the petite&jolie netlabel alongside friend Maxime Lethelier, searching and releasing naive/cute music from all around the world.
