Concept for the Project

Detroit is in many ways an abandoned city. Our residents leave here to be recognized. The people of our suburbs fear coming into Detroit. The companies in the suburbs of Detroit do little to support creating an epicenter which draws resident and visitor to the wonders within the city.

It is time to acknowledge Detroit as a creative capitol in the world. We have exported talent far too much to fail recognizing what we have within the city.

Motivation

It is time to wake up to the statistic that Detroit leads the US in teen-age suicides. WHY? It takes a failure to recognize for suicide to be considered. Recognize their talents, their creative energy, their contribution to the greater good of the world. Contribute to the creative elements of Detroit.

Abandoned In Detroit is a project to unite and forward Detroit's creative energy into the world while remaining focused on being in Detroit. Bring the world to Detroit and make it shine. Acknowledge the soulful unity and love that we share in creative spirit.

Structure of Abandoned In Detroit

The project is a combination of photo shoots, and runway events.

AID Photo Shoots

Monthly the project seeks fashion designers to showcase. We take the clothing, models, photographers, makeup artists into the setting of Detroit's abandoned buildings and hold a photo shoot. The intent - to create artwork from the beauty in the ruins.

AID Events

Interested in holding these quarterly. The project needs sponsorship at this time. The events showcase the fashions and style of Detroit in runway, art, and performance.

How Can You Help

At this time the project is being organized deeper. It is a seedling finding its roots. We've held several photo shoots - the basic artwork for exhibition has began to be created through photo shoots. We've began affiliations with designers, fashion stylists, models, photographers, makeup artists, hair stylists.

What is Needed Most

More designer affiliations! Will you please allow your work to be showcased?

Also seeking: corporate sponsors, charitable organizations focused on creative youth at risk in Detroit, building owners of the abandoned spaces, municipal organizations, and genuine grass-roots support -- YOU.
