INDIE SOC is the society for anyone who loves alternative music at Bristol University. We put on gigs and run a weekly club night, Track and Field, every Thursday at the Thekla (in term time). Check us out on Facebook.
Music
Headlining for us is ADEM, former member of Fridge (with Kieran Hebden, a.k.a. Four Tet) and now a legend in the new British folk movement. He has curated London's Homefires folk festival, and last year headlined the Zero Degrees of Separation tour with Vashti Bunyan, Vetiver and Juana Molina. His latest album 'Takes' is a covers record of songs from the '90s and early 2000s, making the songs his own with his distinctive sound. He'll be playing a one-man, stripped down acoustic performance at Abandon Ship, and is not to be missed!
Also performing are HOT CLUB DE PARIS in main support, the excellent JOHNNY FOREIGNER and LET'S WRESTLE, twin-drummered Bristol band MUNCH MUNCH, hotly-tipped Kent band IT HUGS BACK, LONELY GHOSTS (a.k.a. Tom from Help She Can't Swim) and Exeter punks THE CUT UPS. Folkster RYAN O'REILLY will be opening for us.
