About me: Well, gosh they give you so much space to write about yourself! I'll try not to define myself by my work or where I live, but I am generally a fun, smart, compassionate person. I love people but I love my quality Abbey time too.
One of my proudest achievements is working with Jubilee USA Network, an organization that campaigns to cancel debts of Global South countries (typically referred to as impoverished or Third World countries). These debts exacerbate the already outrageous poverty situation around the world and are, in most cases, unjust. Poverty is an affront to human rights and dignity. For more information, please visit www.jubileeusa.org or send me a message with any questions.
I traveled to South Africa in 2003 with Jubilee and it changed my life. I'm going to put pictures of my trip on MySpace soon, but if you'd like to see them, I have them .. and can send them to you. I hope to travel to more countries soon, and in particular would like to visit Vietnam and the countries of Central America. Of course, I really want to visit as many places as I possibly can before I die. It's a big world out there...
A few years ago, I also started a weight loss journey that has taken me through a lot of emotions and healing. I worked really hard and lost quite a bit of weight and the photo in my profile is me at just about my lowest weight. I have struggled since then to maintain it, but I love to feel healthy. The process opened my eyes to what a lot of people go through in their lives. There is an epidemic of sadness in this world, and in the U.S. in particular, and it often manifests itself in weight issues for a lot of people.
Ultimately, I want to combine my passions for social justice and personal self-actualization to make a difference in individual lives, so we can all make a difference in the lives of those who live in poverty. Crazy? Probably. Possible? Definitely.
Who I'd like to meet: Well, I think we all know the answer to that question!
But besides them, and this is totally geeky, but I would really like to meet John Krasinski from the Office. He plays Jim. He's incredibly talented and amazing and adorable. There I said it!
And the members of The Police. I just saw them in concert. Probably the best concert I've ever seen, seriously.
And Peyton Manning and Mike Mussina of course :)
Thanks again for coming out on Saturday for the Soul game! It was a blast! Thank you for driving, too. I just put up a new pic from the game on my page. Later, chica!
