The Beatles' Abbey Road is often cited as one of the finest rock albums ever recorded. Now, decades after the original album was released, Beatles fans have the chance to hear it performed LIVE, start to finish, by Abbey Road LIVE! This stunning musical group is made up of four all-star musicians from the infamous Athens GA music scene. Collectively they have recorded and toured regularly with bands such as Cosmic Charlie, Charlie Mars, and Fuzzy Sprouts, and have made guest appearances with acts such as Indigo Girls, Juliana Hatfield, and Lemonheads.
An Abbey Road LIVE! show generally consists of a rocking rendition of the late-period Beatles recording, along with a second set of rarely heard Beatles' gems. Pulling material from albums such as Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, and The White Album, the band always delights its audiences with selections from its repertoire of nearly 100 Beatles tunes!
Abbey Road LIVE! is not your typcial Beatle look-alike tribute act; don't expect mop-top haircuts and 1962 Rickenbacker guitars. Rather, this show is about bringing to life some of the more mature and complex Beatles material in a raw & spirited fashion, while remaining true to the original recordings.
Recently, Abbey Road LIVE! has expanded its scope to include full-album performances of Magical Mystery Tour, and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. And watch out -- the band is only a handful of songs away from a complete White Album show.
While the four lads from Athens GA generally perform as a quartet, they have been known to occasionally recruit the "Magical Mystery Horns" and the "Lonely Hearts Strings" to lend authentic accompaniment to the more elaborate tunes. The latest addition to the Abbey Road LIVE! arsenal is a real Indian sitar and tablas.
For six years, Abbey Road LIVE! has been a headlining act at clubs, theatres, and festivals, as well as private events. At a typical Abbey Road LIVE! show, audiences young and old can found singing along with every word, gleefully bobbing up and down, many in utter disbelief at getting to hear this monumental music performed live -- something that even the Beatles themselves never did (having stopped touring in 1966). Come experience the magical mystery trip that is ABBEY ROAD LIVE!
