Upcoming EP “Go West! Get East!” will be Mott's second release, inspired by her recent move to the Philippines. Her debut album, "Hearts a'Flutter" (2007), received high praise and launched a line of exciting shows for Mott and her touring Band. They opened for Daniel Johnston and performed as his backing band, and most recently opened for Nicole Atkins in Baltimore.
The new EP contains 4 songs recorded with the practiced support of her touring band (Jay Novak, Pat Blades, and Jason Hughes). With earthy layers of electric guitars, organ swells, frenzied climaxes, wide shimmering spaces and smart male/female harmonies, “Her Band” gives Mott an even stronger base for the acrobatic break-your-heart vocal attack and genre-hopping songwriting style that have become her trademark. The result is a more developed sound from the debut record, on which Mott herself played all the instruments.
Look for the new tracks right here in September! Go West! Get East!" is scheduled for live release in the DC/Baltimore Metro area, with a simultaneous online release via iTunes, Rhapsody, CD Baby, and others.
"Trying to pick one favorite song is the worst thing about Abby Mott's solo debut, Hearts a'Flutter... given that Mott has a stupid-gorgeous voice and effortless knack for the brain-burrowing hook, she could back herself with croaking frogs and flatulent goats and we'd probably still bop along..."

I had hoped to procrastinate from my to do list by nerdily adding songs to my MySpace profile. The next on my list was to be "She Don't Play Nice" but, alas, I find it unavailable. Thus, my collection incomplete, I am forced to return to mundane tasks.
I will accept a near-future Philadelphia performance as proper reimbursement.
thank you. i'd love to come see you play tonight but alas, i have no money so i must work. i'm going to try my damnedest to make it to the afro beat thing, i went like two years back and it blew my mind. cheers!
