(The Heywire blog is our home of all things rural and regional youth…. and of course, it is all about to explode with contributions and discussions from around Australia.)
We are currently discussing the relevance of youth participation in national discussions such as the National Youth Roundtable. Northern Territory Youth Roundtable Chairman Nathan Frick has argued on the blog passionately for the Youth Round Table model and believes that young people have the capacity to make change, no matter where they live. The conversation is just beginning to heat up with passionate and thought-provoking responses from young people across Australia:

There is also a rather amusing blog about Australian place names. From Mt.Buggery in Victoria to Eggs and Bacon Bay in Tasmania, the list of contributions from our young bloggers continues to grow! So feel free to drop by and share your amusing Aussie place names:

Finally, the Heywire Youth Issues Forum is happening again from the 10th to the 15th of February. Over 40 young people from rural and regional Australia will be descending on Canberra to participate in discussions, workshops and to share their stories. To check out a list of our winners and listen to their stories visit:

Until next time, keep cool(ish)
