Abdeljalil Kodssi, nacido en Marrakech, y barbero de profesión, pertenece a la comunidad gnawa, descendientes de antiguos esclavos africanos en Marruecos. A raiz de un encuentro con el escritor Juan Goytisolo, en el año 1984 y después que éste quedara maravillado por su música, viene invitado a España donde entra en contacto con el grupo valenciano Al Tall y establece relación con comunidades árabes, primero de Francia y después de toda Europa. Así conoce -a través del músico marroquí Hassan Hackmoun- al trompetista de jazz Don Cherry con quien inicia una larga gira europea. En 1990, funda el grupo Nass Marrakech, con sus compañeros Sheriff y Aziz, con los que realiza varias giras mundiales, mientras fija su residencia entre Marrakech y Barcelona. Colabora en el disco de Javier Mas y Jordi Rallo, TAMIZ (2000). En 2001 se edita el segundo álbum de Nass Marrakech, BOUNDERBALA con la colaboración de Jorge Pardo y Omar Sosa y en el 2002 se publica su primer disco en solitario, MIMOUN, producido por Omar Sosa. Todos estos trabajos tienen una línea de continuidad con el último, producido por Javier Mas, OULAD FOULANI GANGA (2006) y sitúan a Abdeljalil Kodssi como un referente artístico y humano indiscutible en el terreno de la fusión musical. CONTACTO: musica@norai.net------------------------- Abdeljalil Kodssi, born in Marrakech, once professional barber, belongs to the gnawa community, the descendants of the Central Africans who were brought to the Maghreb in the Middle Ages. Following a casual encounter in Marrakech in 1984 with Spanish writer Juan Goytisolo, who falls under the spell of his music, he is invited to perform in Spain where he meets members of the band Al Tall from Valencia and starts to mingle with the European Arabic musical community. This is how he meets via Moroccan musician Hassan Hackmoun- jazz trumpet player Don Cherry with whom he undertakes a big European tour. In 1990, he creates, with friends Sheriff and Aziz, the band Nass Marrakech, which will release its debut album Sabil'a'Salaam in 2000 and embark on various world tours. Abdeljalil then settles between Marrakech and Barcelona. He collaborates on Javier Mas and Jordi Rallo's album, TAMIZ (2000). In 2001 Nass Marrakech records a second album, Bounderbala with the collaboration of Jorge Pardo and Cuban pianist Omar Sosa. In 2002 Abdeljalil releases his 1st solo album, Mimoun, produced by Omar Sosa.
