Interests

  • General

Life, Love, Hope, Faith, and various snacks.
  • Movies

..The Shawshank Redemption, The Iron Giant, As Good as it Gets, Napolean Dynamite, Elephant, Spaceballs, Better Off Dead, Garden State, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Incredibles, Donny Darko, Batman Begins, Anything with Buster Keaton, The Godfather (any of 'em), Once Upon a Time in the West, I love films that are written well (you know what I'm talking about). I highly dislike most romantic comedies, for example, because I can predict 99.9% of the plot. I hate formulas. I want to see the earth blow up, the aliens win, the guy NOT get the girl, the kid not get saved at the last second, the race get horribly lost, the hero get shot in the leg and NOT be able to still kick villian tushy, and characters that are motivated by multiple issues not just sex, greed, pride, grand ideals, or anything so trite as this so called movie version of "love." I want to see complicated, confused characters that don't want to be heros. Oh, how I love the anti-hero. I want to see villains that didn't intend on hurting anyone. I want to see endings I didn't see coming. I want less forced love affairs and more explosions if that's what it takes to get rid of that crap. I want less CG and more originality, even if that means using puppets from 1952. I want to watch a film and be in awe for two hours because it just caught me off guard at the time. Eternal Sunshine managed that when I saw it. I want more of that.
  • Television

..Adult swim, Stand-up Comedy, Heroes (you need to watch this), The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Scrubs, Battlestar Galatica.
  • Books

..The Ender's Game series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Resurrection, Christian Apologetics...so often I find myself wanting SO much to just box in somewhere nice and breezy and bust out a fantastic book but don't. I love W.B. Yeats' material but think he was a shmuck. I love reading stuff that makes me laugh or hurts my head (or heart) or all of the above. I think Christopher Moore is hilarious but have never managed to read one of his books all the way through (since I refuse to pay full price and they are rarely at the library), I love...ahem...comics... Now don't get me wrong. I read. A LOT. Just not enough novels. I read the newspaper when I can get my hands on one and that sort of thing but more than anything else I read what are essentially textbooks. Textbooks on filming editing, web design, graphic design, heck even on how to be a better Christian (though you should probably just check out your bible for that). I love to learn and books rock my learn-loving world. That sounds dumb. Oh well.

About me:

In some particular order just not this one...I like: books, cartoons, sunsets, computers, my family (usually), music, Jesus, pinball, Pixar, postit notes, my sisters, God, tech gadgets, beauty, hugs, film editing, learning, movies, animation (real, true gorgeously difficult animation), mini golf, Slurpees (I don't care if they are just sugar...they remind me of my childhood), late night talks, last minute snacks, some burning in my muscles, video games, fruit, bbq anything (well, almost), Isla Vista (special grace), being a smart aleck (I'm trying to cut back), wit, puns, C.S. Lewis, apologetics, rubber duckies, dreaming about flying, reading about heaven, doing something on Earth, writing, talking with my maker, day dreaming, creating stories, meeting new people, cherishing those already close, getting an unexpected call from an old friend, honesty, frankness, confession from my own lips (a rarity but when it comes...oi), seeing good friends do well, getting bonues on my pay check, laughing, going to the beach at night during a full moon, stupid bumper stickers, South Lake Tahoe, Melissa, San Francisco, Berkeley, Santa Barbara, Goleta, Ventura, various parts of Arizona, Brannon and his awesome wife Becky, Chandler (the weirdest sounding dog), comic books, graphic novels, Homestar Runner, popsicles, home cooked meals, microwave burritos, Cheezits, walking, light dancing of off pools of water, rain when I don't have to be outside, remembering good times, being a goofball, filming, singing, a good haircut, naps, comtemplating, dreaming, hopping, twirling, imagining I can fly, typing something honest about myself, run-on sentences, short declarations that are to the point and much, much more. That is what I like.

Who I'd like to meet:

I have no idea. Maybe the guy that made this. Or the person that made this video and the drummer in it.

Well, I guess that's not gonna happen then. Cuz Ryan is going to be Indiana Jones. Darn. And now that I think of it, Axl Rose doesn't really work for you. Start thinking of ideas on who you want to be. Up to you. You've only got like 1 more year to think of something!!! :)

Oh and you mean NOVEMBER Rain. =p

David Bowie sends his regards. David Bowie hopes you are doing well.

BUT, David Bowie is not pleased that you couldn't help his good friend Bonnie with her computer. So, in retaliation, David Bowie shall now cast a spell on you. Have a nice day!

Weird thing is, that night Ryan got extreme food poisoning, and then Monday night I got really sick too. SHHHEEESSH! Anyway, I hope you are feeling MUCH much better and that we talk again really soon!! Say HI to Melissa for me! Love you!

I'm totally bummed, but my whole family will be out of town during your wedding. My parents have had this trip to hawaii planned since last year for dad's and my birthdays. I'm in SB almost every weekend, friday and saturday, so if you're around at the end of this week we can arrange to meet. I'm kinda terrible at calling people so I'll try to call you, but I make no promises. If a time this weekend works for you we can arrange something in advance...
