Abigail begins its official journey under this name somewhere between 1993-1994 in Bucharest, Romania and the first known announcement in a magazine date from January in 1994. The two founding members, Razvan “R” Alexandru (guitar/vocals) and Tudor “G” George (drums) met in 1991 and played live under the name of Punct Mortal until the idea of Abigail was born.
Abigail recorded the first material in 1994 called „These are the ruins of mine”. Two songs were leading for weeks and weeks the Romanian Top 100 on one of the most known radio stations to date, Radio 21.
The next releases were concentrated on single appearances on various compilation cds, mostly in 1995 which brought them to the knowledge of much larger crowd: Underground Romania, Romanian Metal Underground, etc.
In 1996 they released „Together and more” along with a video for the first single and the first TV appearances on local metal shows.
In 1997, „Bitter tears” comes to the light with a new flavor for the local scene. More on that, „Bitter tears” becomes in 1998 most part of the legendary „Sonnets” released through Bestial Records. This record stays until nowadays a milestone for the romanian metal with songs frequently asked during the shows.
Between 1999-2003, Abigail took a break due to external causes derived from within the romanian metal scene. But in 2003 they gathered again to release even more firepower using the weapons they were well known for in Romania: extreme melody, deep emotions, sharp riffage and beautiful lyrics.
In 2007, along the two founding members, some new talents were joining for the mission: Alex (keyboards) and Valentin (bass), Corina (vocals - for one year and one record, a completed experiment). It was the best year so far for the band, no doubtly. Many club gigs, the first two gigs outside Romania, in Vienna, opening act for Evergrey, a few appearances in some festivals along Cynic, Urkraft, Inner Wish, etc, opening act for Katatonia, during this show using the opportunity to release the new record, “New Dawn” which received so far only good and very good reviews from the local media.

Abigail isi incepe oficial aventura sub acest nume in anul de gratie 1994, ianuarie mai exact, desi cei doi membri fodatori, Razvan “R” Alexandru (chitara, voce - Citeste interviu) si George-Angel „G” Tudor (tobe), cantau impreuna sub numele de Punct Mortal inca din 1991, primul concert avind loc la Galele Metalfan din Tei in 1993.
Astfel, Abigail, ajutati de bunii lor prieteni Cronos, au inregistrat primul material demo cu titlul “These are the ruins of mine” urmand in scurt timp si primele concerte, mai intai la Radio21 (live in emisie dar fara public), apoi la Festivalul Top T '95 si Hard’n Heavy Café.
Media de specialitate a inceput sa se arate din ce in ce mai interesata de noua speranta din underground-ul metal din Romania, asa incat Abigail are si primele aparitii in presa: Pop Rock & Show, Rocker, intalnirea de la miezul noptii, iar in Topul Romanesc de la Radio21, doua dintre piesele de pe demo au stationat in top timp de aproape un an, una dintre ele chiar 4 saptamani pe locul 1.
Urmatoarele aparitii discografice au cuprins intrarea pe cateva compilatii printre care Underground Romania, Romanian Metal Underground, precum si inca alte doua materiale demo, “Together and more” (1996) si “Bitter Tears” (1997).
Primul material oficial este inregistrat la sudioul Magic sound din Bucuresti cu Cristi Solomon (Iris, Directia 5, Bosquito, etc) ca inginer de sunet si editat prin Bestial Records sub titul “Sonnets” (1998) si cuprinde cinci piese in maniera doom/death/gothic caracterizate printr-o melodicitate extrema, fapt confirmat si de numeroasele recenzii pozitive primite in special din strainatate. Acest disc isi pastreaza pana si astazi un statut respectat, fiind unul dintre cel mai bine produse materiale din undergroundul romanesc chiar pana in prezent. Prezenta continua la festivalurile din tara au adus trupei o serie de premii si distinctii, dar rasplata cea mai mare o constituie multimea de fani devotati.
Intre 1999 – 2003, Abigail a facut o pauza fortata de imprejurari. Dar iata ca in 2003, ei au strans randurile si au re-debutat in cadrul festivalului Metalheart de la Costinesti, apoi la maratonul rock de la Arenele Romane, Super Rock Open Air.
In 2004 din randul trupei pleaca patru dintre membri pentru a forma o alta trupa. Totusi, chiar si in aceste conditii, cei ramasi au continuat sa compuna si sa pregateasca noile materiale, ajungand in prezent ca pe langa cei doi membri fondatori sa ii gasim pe Alex (keyboards), Corina (voce - pentru o scurta perioada de timp, un experiment in urma caruia a rezultat un EP) si Valentin (bass).
In 2007, dupa un concert reusit de la clubul Utopia primit de publicul nerabdator cu foarte mare entuziasm si interes (Citeste cronica 1 si Cronica 2") a urmat pe data de 21 aprile inca unul alaturi de suedezii de la Evergrey ( Citeste cronica), revelatia metalului progresiv, apoi primele doua concerte la Viena (Austria) pe data de 5 si 6 mai, precum si de inca o apritie de club in Bucuresti. Toamna a adus cu ea aparitia in recital la festivalul open air Maximum Rock de la Cluj si prezenta ca si co-headlineri pentru prima seara la Bestial Fest. Anul 2007 s-a incheiat cum nu se putea mai bine pentru Abigail: opening act pentu legendarii Katatonia, concert in cadrul caruia au si lansat noul disc „New Dawn” si care a beneficiat pana acum de cronici pozitive.
2008 - lucrul la viitorul disc, "Insomnia" (titlu provizoriu), a inceput. In curand vom prezenta noutati si primul single de pe acesta. Ne-am propus ca anul acesta sa nu cantam foarte des, lucrul la disc fiind proritar. Pentru a vedea cateva filmari legate de acest disc vizitati blogul nostru AICI si lasa-ti-ne impresiile voastre.
Salutari, ce noutati nai sunt pe la voi, speram ca sunteti bine cu totii. Eram in trecere si ne-am gandit sa va salutam. In ultima perioada ne-am desconectat putin, chiar acum muncim pe mastering la piese noi, pe care speram sa urcam pe pagina in curand. Cu aceasta ocazie va invitam sa vizitati pagina noastra si sa votati piesele existente ( este un cadru cu o chitara colorata). Va uram o saptamana excelenta, numai bine, Dark Neverend.
