    Aaron's Interests
GeneralThere's undoubtedly so much more that I'd love that I've not yet experienced. Offhand I know I enjoy

Science!! Especially physical sciences - physics, chemistry, astronomy, mathematics
Psychology - how I tick is puzzling enough sometimes, how others - bloody intriguing! I hold no biased allegiance here, and appreciate work in social cognition, neurology, behaviorism, etc.
Computers - I did mention I'm a geek since childhood and by trade? - programming - anything from brain-straining assembly language to bloated enterprise web apps, architecture - and probably most anything else from abacuses (abaci?) to Babbage to quantum computation
Economics - laissez-faire centric, of course!
Philosophy - pondering the universe, our mortal coil and all the relations between. I primarily enjoy ethics and politics, as they can get the most sticky and complex - hence interesting

There's far more I want to experience of simple physical exertion and sensation. I've jumped from a perfectly good airplane and would happily do it again. Roller coasters - of course, and I plan to hang-glide, parasail and ultralight. I get a tremendous kick out of the currently-humbling experience of indoor rock-climing, and when my forearms can bear it hope to try the real thing. Sex - what sensual being wouldn't be enraptured with such expression of life and the love of it? - but I'll leave that for now without further saying. Racquetball, tennis, hiking, weights, contra dancing, planning to soon try at least roller blading and other dancing.

I've a challenge to myself to find an artistic side, an element of the right-brained. As a science geek I've often felt so analytical that such a means of expression was not available me. While still musing on a possible muse, I appreciate and admire the captivating creations of others - be it on canvas, in stanzas or aural.
MusicPunk, ska, gothic, industrial, heavy/thrash/speed/even-some-glam metal - but also whatever else sounds good at the time.

Favorites e.g. Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dropkick Murphys, They Might Be Giants, Leonard Cohen, Sisters of Mercy, Tori Amos, many many others

MoviesFrom the slightly twisted (Fight Club, Memento, 12 Monkeys) to downright silly (Monty Python, Princess Bride, Mel Brooks or Zucker bros. films).
TelevisionI rarely see - but do like - the Daily Show, Family Guy, South Park, Office, Mythbusters, Robot Chicken and a few other satirical or offbeat shows.

From days of old, I've usually also seen only scattered episodes, but have enjoyed shows such as the Twilight Zone (60s or 80s), Alfred Hitchcock, Firefly, Babylon 5, and Buffy.

BooksThough it's not yet complete, tagged, and organized, you can browse my books at LibraryThing!

Fiction I much less frequently read, so it's easier to list specific favorites.
Vonnegut - Slaughterhouse Five, Welcome to the Monkey House, Breakfast of Champions
Orwell - 1984, Animal Farm
Huxley - Brave New World
Rand - Fountainhead
Poe - anything dark :)
Rostand - Cyrano de Bergerac
Camus - Stranger
Rowling - I admit I like her darned kid books about wizards

Nonfiction I consume more of, so just some favorite authors-
Isaac Asimov!, Jared Diamond, Richard Dawkins, George Gamow
Ayn Rand, Frederic Bastiat, Murray Rothbard, Thomas Paine, David Friedman, Milton Friedman
H.L. Mencken, P.J. O'Rourke, Dave Barry

HeroesNewton, Einstein, Euler, Pasteur, Watt, Edison, Turing, Lilburne, Adam Smith, Rand, Bastiat, Rothbard, Locke - and any other promoters of human progress in science, technology or liberty

One small example of why I'm going to vote Ron Paul. Notice how the other guy tries to make a clever comment to get people to cheer. For all the others, it's just a popularity contest.

Aaron, your mostly positive review of 300 has been mentioned by Joshua Zader in the AtlasSphere, alongside Diana Hsieh's negative one. It can be found here:http://www.theatlasphere.com/metablog/612.php. Also, are you going to be at the VNV Nation concert this saturday?

By the way, all the KSU Objectivist people want to hang out with Atlanta Objectivists. Let me know what is going on in the near future so I can get everyone to show up.

Well, my husband cleaned his office out this weekend. His letting go list looked much like yours. Thanks for the inspiration. :)

Wow man, you've done some writing on your myspace - good stuff. I like how you put little stories in the "General Interests" section. And did I finally convince you that "spirit" is actually a good word?! You'll be a New Age dolt in no time flat, LOL :) What's a "freethinker"?

Haha, "eerily intriguing", eh? Yeah, there's a meaning behind it (somewhat described on my LJ). I haven't given up on photos entirely - I'm just feeling different at the moment.
