Aborted Rap... A persona created circa 1995 while in broadcasting school in Southfield, Michigan. AR, AKA DJ Fish was a founding member of the D.L.P., later known as the Chaotic Prophets, which eventually split; one half becoming the Artfull Dodgers, whom DJ Fish briefly tour DJ'ed for as well as appearing on their sophmore album "Lazy Eyes". Aborted Rap made up half of the seminal underground group, with partner Jonny Ka$h, The Sons of the Empire from which spawned a single ("The King MC"/"An Introduction to Poetry") as well as the critically acclaimed "Le-Nerd Neemoi Project" EP in 1996. The Sons recorded through 2002, but never commercially released another album. Aborted Rap has appeared on several Midwestern Union Projects; most notably The Artfull Dodgers, Jozi Whalez, and Aslaam Mahdi. He has also collaborated with Mike Abshure, appearing on his "Albadore" album as both MC and DJ. He has also appeared on "The Cultural Vibe", "Nocturnal Emissions", and "The Gozza Strip" radio shows from Lansing and Flint, respectively.
Aborted Rap is well-known for his incredibly bizzarre live performances, mostly culminating in violent, alcohol-fueled tantrums of beer-spewing and chair-throwing. Aborted Rap explains his shows:"These are my therapy; my way to release all of my aggressions building from both my past and my frustrations of daily life." The name Aborted Rap is meant to both shock and explain his philosophy on hip-hop, "I feel like hip-hop doesn't want me" he explians, "like I'm too much for hip-hop, and the feeling grows ever more strong with each release of the garbage that's considered hip-hop these days."
In the last few years, Aborted Rap has appeared on the DJ Zack Daniels project "Based on a True Story" once again reuniting AR and Jonny Ka$h under the Zack Daniels monniker lacing two tracks, "Battleship" and "Battleship Redux". MC'ing and DJ'ing opportunities fell his way on the Aslaam Madhi release "The Bibliography". He makes an appearance on both the new Artfull Dodgers album (on the track, "Dodgeball") as well as dropping a guest verse on the new Jozi Whalez record. He served duties as MC, DJ, Engineer, Producer, and Mixer on the forthcoming "Top Dollar MC's" (a supergroup of sorts consisting of AR, Zack Daniels, The Artfull Dodgers, Jozi Whalez, Aslaam Madhi, Knucklez, Madness, Horeson JAE, and additional production by Johnny Mnemonic) inspired by the song "Top Dollar Defeat" from the Jozi Whalez "Love Triangle" EP. There may also be a top secret project from ARF and Aslaam Mahdi, focusing on some of the spiritual and political philosophies of the artists. A solo project and a Sons of the Empire project may also be on the books.
Currently, AR is working with Gozza, DJ Zack, and Aslaam on a new project entitled "Style Warriors". Myspace Layouts / Record Player / Hot Comments / Image Hosting
