Sounds Like
Our Music is a combination of genres and styles. We are a highly energetic rock band that combines intricate melodies with in-your-face breakdowns, solemn interludes and original vocal patterns.
Our music is good, but our live show is our signature.
Only until you catch us in our element will you experience the true nature of what it is we do... Rock.
Are you a Burn Victim?
The band "Fear of Farewell" formed when high school enemies Joseph Turlington and Sean Madden ran into each other at the local music store, Guitar Center in Mobile AL. After settling all of the "beef" that typically ends with graduation, Joseph and Sean started jamming for fun at sean's guest house on D.I.P (Die in piece) or (Dauphin Island Parkway). Joseph's friend and former bandmate Jeff Mcmanus and a couple of unmentioned members, later joined the project and the band began to mature. After a few months of practice and playing shows with such bands as "The American Tragedy", the band decided it was in the best interest of the group to split up. Joseph and Sean kept the name and continued writing and playing for fun in hopes that the group would reform and move forward to be a band worthy of the hours and dedication that they had put into their Music.
2006
A few months went by and with no replies to flyers, posts or bulletins, it seemed as if we would be stuck in hiatus forever. Some time around April Matt Miller and Chase Bigness got jobs at the local Hooters in Tillmans Corner where Joseph was currently employed. Most of the staff were musicians now including Mike Ross from "Cyclosane", "The Lowdown", and "The Bailout Plan" and his older brother Reggie Ross, former guitarist of "Cyclosane". Joseph, Matt, and chase started jamming and immediately discovered the bands new found chemistry. The band changed its name to "A Bridge to Burn" and began placing ads and flyers in hopes to find the fifth member and lead vocalist of the group. They were working with auditions and had all but decided on Sam Ellison, a late night stocker at walmart from Semmes AL, when they contacted one last person to audition....Chris Ruiz from Dothan AL. Chris's unexeedable amount of passion, energy, and dedication was more than enough to shut out his competition. What Chris lacked in perfect pitch, made up for with an amazing live performance and the most bad ass metal screams you ever did hear.
2007
The band gained momentum and began playing non-stop shows all around the coast at venues such as:Bamboo Willies, The Catastrophe, Thunders, The Cell Block, The Blind Mule, The Green Bean Board Shop, Hooters and Mobile Ink Tattoos in Theodore AL and many more. The band had radio interviews on 97.9 wcpr, placed well in the ernie ball "taste of chaos" competition and the tk101 open for metallica and godsmack contest. The band played a lot of benefit shows and made a lot of friends along the way. All great things must come to an end and it did such when Chris and the band had a falling out and Chris left the group. They wished him the best of luck and finished the last couple of shows they had booked previously without him and then began yet another dreary hiatus.
2008
In 2008, ABTB spent time experimenting with new sounds. They had friends from other bands in the local music scene over for jam sessions often (Folks like Aaron Box of "Undertoe Hopscotch" and Jeffrey Peters of "Flannel Cake") and were also on a desperate search for the 5th and final member of the group... a singer. Months went by before they realized that the best singer for the band, was in the band. Moving former rythum guitar player Matt Miller to the front wasn't an easy decision. The Majority of the music they played were ideas cultured from Matt and Joseph's guitar chemisty... there is no way the music would be the same.
2009
The Music was extremely different... the band was proud our there matured sound and as such, recorded a demo with Mike Manning of "Meka Studios", here in mobile. Mike is an amazing engineer and his rates are taylored to fit the needs of local musicians. Waiting for the release of there unmastered demo, the band started booking shows and are getting ready for a long and much awaited return to the Mobile Al, Music Scene.
