Bio
Formed in 1992 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Abysmal Crucifix's original line-up included Girth McDürchstein on guitar and lead vocals, Robin Kelley on drums and harmony vocals, and Carl Davenport on bass. In 1994, the band split when Girth took the act including the songs and the band name to sunny LA, where he discovered new members Little Riffs Nicky (rhythm guitar, harmony vocals), Mikey Parker (bass and harmony vocals), Jam Malone (keyboards), and Tommy Janofsky (drums).
Girth and his new Abysmal line-up recorded several albums on Girth's own label, Kelleystein Recordings: their 1995 debut Star Sex, followed in 1996 by Two Berries on a Twig, and the last in the "sexy trilogy," Delightlah! in 1998. This last album netted Abysmal its first mainstream renown, with the modest hits "Rolling in It" (No. 98, Billboard Hot 100, week of August 15, 1998) and "Bay-Ooh-Tay-Tay," which was remixed in 1999 by Girth's longtime friend DJ Koko. Their fourth release came in 2002, with the epic, two-disc concept album, The Hedge.
In early 2006, Abysmal's line-up changed once again. Out with the new, in with the old, as Riffs, Jam, and Mikey quit and are replaced by founding member Carl Davenport and Margo Atwater. In 2007, the line-up evened out, with Riffs and Mikey returning to play with Carl, Margo, and legendary rocker Girth McDürchstein.
alright, so people always say happy hump day for Wednesdays. I think its just as strange to say happy Uphill on Tuesdays, or happy Downhill on Thursdays, but i've never ever seen or heard anyone wish that. -Brandon
Hi there! Thank you for your friendship. Have you heard the new Tantric? I can tell you that they do NOT sound like every other band out there right now. With the classically trained Marcus on violin they have added a new dimension I think you will find pleasing. Hit their page and have a listen. Add them to your circle-Tell them Vanessa sent you. Have a great weekend! Besos, Vanessa
On the eve of the release of their most important release yet, Metal Hammer have posted an outstanding three-page article featuring the mighty Skindred. Once again the publication asks “Why aren’t they the biggest band on the planet?”.
