About Abyss Of Pain - Searching For A New Guitar Player
The band was born in 2003 in Friuli Venezia-Giulia (Northern-East of Italy) under the name SWARM.
Willing to improve into their best, passing through several line-up, in summer of 2004 the band turned the name into the definitive ABYSS OF PAIN, playing death metal with swedish and floridian influences.
The joining of Alessandro “Bibi”, who added his deep voice and strong presence, let melodic and Nordic sound to melt together with most brutal and aggressive rhythms.
The band so formed began to play all around its native Region, becoming one of the most well known new metal band and wrote new songs, until the recording of the first demo called “...and pain grows stronger”, with the supervision of sound engineer Riccardo Asquini and the wonderful graphic work of Massimo Cigaina, producing an accurate cd.
In the summer 2007, Abyss of Pain started promoting their demo, playing also as supporter for some famous metal band as Raintime and Slowmotion Apocalypse during festivals.
Year 2008:
In January, the line-up has changed, due to the will of one of the two guitarist, Samuel Catania, to undertake his new musical project.
In March the band signed a collaboration contract with the agency of management Alkemist Fanatix.
In April, the metal magazine Grind Zone did the first comment to the demo, showing quite positive reaction.
In May, the band was busy in two gigs through the South of Italy, obtaining good response.
In June, other two Italian metal magazines – Rock Hard and Metal Maniac – have reviewed the demo, talking in positive way and waiting for something great from the band in the coming future.
Nowadays, Abyss of Pain are playing in four elements, with Gimmi Piccin playing “two in one”(!). The band is still looking for a second guitar player, testing auditions.
