Read my interview with June at ..The Volume Knob.. or see a few of my reviews below:.. ..."[T]his is not just any ’girl with a guitar,’ but someone with more-than-average talent. This is the ’girl with a guitar’ who might become “that girl playing at the club downtown” or “the girl opening for your favorite band” next year....It would be hard to compare her to other artists without the cliché of comparing her to any and all guitar-toting ladies that came before her, but with the poetic qualities of an Ani DiFranco and the indie charm of a Ben Gibbard." -Ann Corrigan, ..The Feminist Review.. (..www.feministreview.blogspot.com..) .. "You’ve got to love a girl named for a tree, but there’s a lot more to adore about this melodic, hypnotic, self-taught Baltimore musician. Her debut album, ..Dialtones.., offers hints of Ani Difranco and Lisa Loeb, only better." -July/August 2007 issue of ..Curve Magazine.., (..www.curvemag.com..) .. "Acacia sings about universal themes, from frustration with the world and the dishonesty of humans to love that can never truly be requited. Her honest and evocative songs intertwine beautifully with her sweet yet powerful vocals, particularly in tracks ’Passion Play’ and ’If I was Austin’ when short angry bursts snap you back into reality. If you like Lisa Loeb, Ani Difranco or Mazzy Star you might like to try rising star Acacia Sears." -Anna Masters, ..Lip Magazine.. (..www.lipmag.com/reviews..), July 16th, 2007
  • Members

Acacia Sears is a solo singer/songwriter/guitarist. She can often be seen with Chris Hamilton of Radiation Puppy (myspace.com/radiationpuppy), who plays bass and sings harmonizing vocals. They make a pretty good team, but if the cops ask, they were somewhere else.
  • Influences

Ani Difranco, Death Cab for Cutie, Patty Griffin, Portishead, The Shins, Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann, Dar Williams, Heather Nova, Lisa Loeb, Tori Amos, Bright Eyes, Sia
  • Sounds Like

Poetic like Ani Difranco or Fiona Apple, but melodic like Portishead or Sarah McLachlan. I like to say I'm comparable to a female Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service) if I had to choose one person for my audio aspirations... (Just don't say Jewel, I hate that)
