About Acalasia

Late in 2006, each of the 5 members of Acalasia found themselves in trouble with the law for various misdemeanors. A court ordered community service hours as a means of reform, forcing the 5 individuals to spend obnoxious amounts of time together. As a result, they eventually learned they all shared a common passion - pure laziness and a longing to never hold a real job. Soon thereafter, Acalasia was born.

Taking their name from the medical term achalasia (pronounced ak-uh-ley-zhuh), a condition characterized by a constriction of muscles that causes a difficulty in swallowing, the band decided to remove the 'h'- a decision inspired by Taking Back Sunday's "Cute without the E." Acalasia figured TBS shouldn't be the only band to capitalize on removing letters from words and decided to go by Acalasia without the H, or Acalasia for short. (Or quite possibly an acoustic guy from Idaho already had the name Achalasia, leaving the central PA quintet in quite the debacle - who knows!?) Either way, the Acalasians have been playing music together for over two years now and enjoying every second of it.

Ties that Bind Tour	Jul 12 2009 2:46 PM July 18th show for the Ties That Bind tour This is a must see show, dont miss out on your chance to see the music concert of the year. We only have room for 500 people so get there as soon as you can to get in!!! New show is back at the hope recreation center 500 north 6th street Philipsburg Pa 16866 on July 18th 2009.
