last thoughts before falling asleep, good friends you can talk to forever about anything, our families, searching for something to call home (either a person or place), the seasons changing (or never changing), mountain trails, waterfalls, riverbeds (these are not names of bands!), passionate music.
"...there is something special about this ensemble's sound. Whereas scads of other songwriters have used strings as ornamentation (or to imply significance not actually found in their songs), cellist Patty Blanchard's counterpoint is an integral part of what makes these songs work." ~ the big takeover
"Complete with beautiful sweeping cellos, lush choruses, and an unexplainable warmth, Here Comes Another Melody, is as fine a folk-pop record as one could ask for." ~skatterbrain.org
"Who would have guessed a group based out of such an urban landscape would have such a rustic and downhome sound? ... A patchwork of uplifting melodies, driving cello rhythms, and nifty groundbreaking folk-pop." ~smother.net
"Fresh, genuine, and real. Baltimore, Maryland's A Cat Called Cricket is a band that creates pop music that is unique and fulfilling. The folks in this band (two guys and two girls) write and record soft, melodic pop featuring a heavy dose of cellos...if you are seeking music that makes a real impression and comes straight from the heart...Here Comes Another Melody might just be your favorite new disc." ~babysue.com
"A Cat Called Cricket is a wonderful folk indie band in the vein of The Decemberists that have a knack of creating a catchy harmony while sounding close to the fringe. The lyrics are supurb and the cello and banjo just add to the full unique sound of this band. ~ the chickenfish speaks
Hey guys. Thank you so much for what you did this week, everything was perfect and beautiful and the songs helped. Thank you so much for your empathy and kindness I appreciate it as do all of the people who were present on Saturday. Keep the faith. Tawny
thanks man! yeah, i turned into a we, and prior to that i had written a bunch of new stuff and never got to record it, but finally we're going to have one out. How are you guys doing? I know i probably offered before, but if you're ever in PA and need some place to sleep or play, let me know and i'll see what i can do. Thanks again!
We just got back and are just unwinding a little bit. But we're not too tired to hit back our awesome Baltimore friends! We just played Station 4 in St. Paul, Minnesota last night, and it was the perfect high note to end our tour on. Everything went really well, thanks. Hope everything is going good for you guys!
I'm shift manager at Westminster Station.. super classy, great espresso. We opened on black friday, so we're fairly new. The Apathy Eulogy just played at the shop and it was wild in there.. I'm sure if we could book you, there'd be quite a crowd as well.
It didn't dawn on me to find you guys on myspace, but I remember how awesome you guys were when you played. I just thought it'd make you guys happy to know your music was playing through out a store and people like it
I saw you guys at a show you played at Charm City more than a year ago and I picked up one of your CD's. I play it in the coffeehouse that I work all the time, I just love it
Everyone at indiecater records would like to wish you a happy summer and let you know that there is an indiepop song from the Very Most available to download FREE from our site!
