About me:
Access Radio is by, for and about our community. We always welcome and encourage new programme makers, volunteers and supporters.
Access Radio was the first community radio station to be established in New Zealand. We have been broadcasting since 1981 from our studios in central Wellington.
Access Radio is one of eleven community radio stations spread throughout New Zealand. 40% of our funding comes from New Zealand On Air, with the remaining 60% coming from membership fees, air-time charges, advertising, sponsorship and grants.
Our Mission Statment - The station that is the true multicultural voice that celebrates in the diversity of Wellington's many communities and cultural groups. The station that informs, educates and entertains the peoples of Wellington, and by encouraging the development of their broadcasting skills, provides them with direct access to their communities.
Our vision Statement - Wellington Access Radio will be an inclusive and collaborative public forum, linking the news, the events and the politics of the many diverse cultural groups of Wellington. It will use the best skills and available technologies to reach the broadest listener base and will provide a quality experience for all these listeners with an identifiable, reliable and immediate station sound.
