The Student Government Association (SGA) is the main voice of the student body. It functions as a crucial link between students and Austin Community College administration. The SGA works to improve the quality and value of the educational experience at ACC by acting as an advocate for student concerns. SGA urges you to do your part to ensure that Austin Community College continues to meet the needs of the community and students. As a member, you will learn valuable leadership and organizational skills and be a part of a legacy, shaping the future of ACC.
By joining SGA, you can:
• influence the administrative decisions and procedures that affect the student body.
• develop leadership skills.
• make your opinion heard.
• participate in representative government.
• build your résumé and portfolio.
• have fun and meet new people.
If you are interested in joining the SGA, please contact us at sga@austincc.edu or call 223-3116
Who I'd like to meet: Any Austin Community College students or people who are interested in Austin Community College.
Phi Theta Kappa would like to invite everyone to attend this program that we are puting on this Friday. It should be a fun as well as informative event
Friday, October 19, 7pm to 9pm
Rio Grande---Student Lounge Program----Elements of Leadership-- -How to be a Great Leader! Well-known trainer, Billy Lawson, will be presenting with tips and activities.
Why: To give students, faculty, and staff a tour of their mobile studio. Cameras may be on hand to interview ACC students about the race for the White House and/or the importance of community colleges in higher education (C-span programming will determine topics and let us know).
The public is invited to tour C-span’s “studio-on-wheels” and get a behind the scenes look at the public service cable network. The tour is part of an ongoing series in which C-Span crosses the country visiting campuses and talking with politically-active students about the upcoming elections and issues of the day.
If you have questions, please contact Dahlia Anzaldua at (Anzaldua@austincc.edu or 223-7595).
FYI: C-span will also be taping the Presidential Library Series at the LBJ Library on Friday.
Don’t forget to register for the 1st Annual Diversity Conference! The first 50 to sign up will receive a great baseball tee! The conference is FREE for all ACC students! Come and network with community leaders!
This is not your traditional conference! We are taking an interactive and entertaining approach to facing tough topics.
