Raised in the country-rock ghettos of Tamworth N.S.W., Dan Adams leaves his Sydney slum and writes a whole bunch of songs over 6 years or so of suburban malaise in sweaty Brisbane. Dale Shearsmith and Phillip Brown prop him up in front of a mic with a drumkit, an electric guitar, a bass guitar and a tambourine - with only a multicoil connecting them. Adams behaves like a performing chimp and churns out two records in a couple of years full of nostalgic, gold A.M.-styled tunes.
Phil Brown, Stu Maggs and Chris Howell decide they need to fulfill their adolescent fantasies by playing in a live rock band and Adams trains them like a crack squad - tight , focussed and swinging.
Adams is too absorbed with his own ego and crystal meth to notice that his scummy mates have turned into a great live rock band and are willing to tour at least one date every couple of weeks.
After a controlled substance intervention and a group hug ACE are ready to sweat, cry and emote like young men just don't do anymore.
