In varied states of consciousness which are explored through the widespread practices of the Shaman it is believed that...time and space,matter and mind,body and soul take on different characteristics of heightened awareness which are
traversed and represented by the Axis Mundi.
The Axis Mundi is symbolic in not so much a figurative sense but a literal sense, meaning "the center of the world" where earth meets the sky. It has no one set place or point of focal imagery. Its image can be feminine or masculine, natural or a product of human manufacturing. How this relates to the Id, the illogical most primitive part of our psyche has been debated by scholars,scientist and naysayers alike. At one point Freud argued that the Id influenced our behavior but we are unaware of its presence.
In many cultures shrines were built at the summit or base of mountains which become the centerpiece" of spiritual life. The Shaman considered "healers,witches,demonic,frauds" and other colorful array of appellations have long delved into the spirit world. Through absence of open consciousness we land into a unfamiliar place called self. The use of psycho-active substances
known as entheogens (psilocybin,mescaline,and LSD) were commonly used as part of a shamanic ritual healing in these mountainous retreats to achieve just that.
Most of us go through our daily routines without out much thought into our opposite self. The self that only exists or reveal itself in the visible world.
The creation vs. evolution debate is a question of origins. How did we get here? Did we evolve randomly or were we created from some fantastic super being? Are we being watched from some far away place to see how “MAN“ survives in a modern world compared to an ancient rule? Does it even matter? These are questions which will be debated, argued and to a certain degree will absolutely be the most unanswered question of all time. That is if time is a definite.
